TECHNICAL INFORMATION FOR FURNISH LIGHTING AND SMALL POWER EQUIPMENT

4. LIGHTING AND SMALL POWER INSTALLATION

a. Study access routing prior to installation.


b. All equipment shall be inspected and check by owner representative prior to installation.
c. Apply permit to work.
d. Display PTW completed and attach together with AFC drawing. 
e. Check and make sure valid green tag scaffolding for working at height.
f. Ensure all worker wear harness and hook the harness at the right places during working at height.
g. Fabricate support for lighting as per AFC drawing.
h. Make sure no sharp edges and touch up paint to be done at welding portion before install the support or
stanchion.
i. Inspect for support or stanchion by contractor and owner representative.
j. Make sure the lighting fixtures orientation and identification is correct
k. Lighting fixtures to be installed neatly without any sharp edges and easy to access for future
maintenance.
l. Start for cable glanding works.
m. After completed glanding cables, perform the continuity check, polarity check and cable insulation
resistance test.
n. Ensure all result test recorded and signed off by owner representative.
o. Do the functional test and lux test for lighting.

5. CABLE INSTALLATION
Actual types and sizes of cables are as specified in cable schedule, drawings and specifications. Contractor shall
check and verify all cable sizing and shall note the following:
a. Bending radius of cables shall not be less than that recommended by cable manufacturers.
b. All cables shall be megger tested and continuity tested before termination.
c. Cable rollers shall be provided at sufficient spacing and on every corner.
d. Joints in power and control cables are not allowed, unless the total length exceeds that on a single
drum. Owner must be consulted if joints are necessary and these joints shall be carried out using Heat
Shrinkable terminating kits by competent personnel. The terminating kits shall be provided by the
contractor.
e. For electrical and instrument cable, physical segregation is required to avoid any signal interference.
Electrical and instruments cables will be laid separately.
f. All cables coming out from the ground shall be provided with a mechanical kick pipe protection
minimum of 150mm from the ground level.

6. CABLE GLANDING AND TERMINATION

a. This section covers the basic material and workmanship needed in the terminating of power cables by
contractor. Termination shall be made as per cable manufacturer’s recommendations.
b. All cables shall be terminated using the specified cable glands which is Contractor scope of supply.
Installation of cable gland shall be in accordance with manufacturer’s recommendations. Effective earth
continuity shall be ensured between cable armour/braid and the gland plate. Accessories to maintain IP
rating, hazardous areas classification shall be provided as appropriate by Contractor.
c. Special attention will be given to the following:
- All cables will be individually marked at the termination points with PVC.
- Cable screens will be connected in such a way that the screening is earthed only at the
intended location, and that multiple earthing does not occur.
- Cable glands will be of the correct size to match the appropriate cable.
- Ensure there is no amour exposed after glanding.

7. MISCELLANEOUS

a. Any galvanized material damaged by contractor during installation activities shall be repaired by contractor
with an organic zinc epoxy primer.
b. Any paint touch-up of electrical equipment required as a result of installation shall be touch up with
manufacturer’s provided paint.
c. It is the contractor’s responsibility to check if the locations of lighting fixtures, etc., on drawings are
correct. It may be that certain components have to be relocated due to piping or other disturbances. All
changes are to be documented and owner permission obtained.
d. Color coding for phase, neutral and ground conductors will be:
 L1, L2 and L3 :  Red, Yellow and Blue.
 Neutral :  Black (Phasing tape is permissible)
 Ground :  Green

8. TESTING AND COMMISSIONING

a. Pre-test check - The contractor and owner shall check each E&I installation against the drawings, E&I
specification and standards. Should discrepancies be established between the installation, drawings and
specification, they shall be bought to the attention of the owner for resolution.
b. All tests that are necessary to retain the manufacturer’s guarantee shall be conducted in accordance with
instructions provided by the manufacturer. All other test shall be applied in accordance with the instruction
specified herein or the Project Specification.
c. All test conducted shall be recorded on appropriate test sheets and a log maintained.
d. Recorded data shall include, but not limited to the following:
 Date of Test
 Identification of Equipment Tested
 Type of Test Applied
 Test Equipment Used
 Test Results
e. All tests shall be witnessed when required. Upon satisfactory completion of each test and upon analysis of
data obtained, the contractor engineer shall sign off test sheets and obtain owner signature for final
acceptance.
f. Electrical testing and conformation must be done in accordance with the Inspection & Test Plan for
Electrical Works.
g. Instrument testing and conformation must be done in accordance with the Inspection & Test Plan for
Instrumentation Works.
