January 17 Three Evils
MOTIVATION:
Do you know what are the three evils that plague
humanity?
Do you believe that old age, disease and death are
inevitable in life?
ACTIVITY:
Here is a written copy of a speech for more
information about the Burmese people including their
temperaments and psyche.
While reading the speech, here are some words that you might encounter.
ANALYSIS:
Inevitable – incapable of being avoided or evaded
Fleeting – passing swiftly
Transitory – of brief duration; tending to pass away
Amass – to collect for oneself
Insatiable – incapable of being satisfied
Utilitarian – an advocate or adherent of utilitarianism
Exploit – a notable or heroic act
Rampant – marked by a menacing wildness, extravagance or absence of
restraint
Inexhaustible – incapable of being wearied or worn out
Wallow – to roll oneself about in a lazy, relaxed, or ungainly manner
ABSTRACTION:
The people of Myanmar are peace-loving and
hardworking. Most of them live in villages and work as
farmers. This speech of the Prime Minister U Nu serve
to remind the Myanmar people to pursue peace and
unity among them.
(The teacher will read the speech.) (The students will read
with their eyes.)
APPLICATION:
