Hinduism-samsara-path
Namaste is hello in Indian
Usually, they place their hands first on the forehead, then to the mouth, then in a gesture of welcome they say…
Namaste
So… Namaste.  In this second part of our lesson we will look at the basic beliefs of the Hindu belief

Karma- What you give, you get back. Maybe not immediately but years after when you least expect it

DHARMA IS...
1. VOCATIONAL DHARMA - WHO AM I? WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF MY LIFE? KNOWING MY
NATURE AND THE MISSION OF MY LIFE
2. NATURAL DHARMA - HOW I TAKE GOOD CARE MY YOURSELF
3. OCCUPATIONAL DHARMA - HOW I DO THE TASKS GIVEN TO ME
4. PERSONAL DHARMA - HOW I LIVE MY LIFE AS A SON OR DAUGHTER OR A PARENT OR AS
PART OF A FAMILY
5. COMMUNITY DHARMA - HOW I LIVE AS PART OF THE COMMUNITY AS A CITIZEN OF A
COUNTRY
6. UNIVERSAL DHARMA - HOW I LIVE MY LIFE AS PART OF THE WORLD AS A HUMAN BEING
7. SPIRITUAL DHARMA - HOW I LIVE MY LIFE AND RELATE TO GOD OR HOW I ENHANCE MY
SPIRITUAL LIFE AND NOT JUST MY PHYSICAL LIFE

Dharma vs Karma- connected

Karma- reactions get from your actions
- What’s going in your life right now is the result of your past actions
- Result of the dharmic quality of your action
Dharma- essence of living who you are; key component to live a good life; basis of liberation or having a good
karma in life
- When your actions are in line w/ your Dharma, the better karmic reaction you can get but actions
farther away from your Dharma, the worse/ the negative the karmic reaction will be
Karma Yoga Krishna- Technique for not accumulating any karma and becoming liberated
- Explained in the Bhagavad Gita , third chapter
Karma Yoga- still have to live your Dharma but the difference is that instead of just acting expecting a good
result from reliving your Dharma in karma
- Give up the results to God; every actions is an offering to the divine; here now in the moment living
our essence

10 Rules of Karma
Karma- one of the oldest religious/spiritual concepts in the world
- Widely accepted in the east long before Christianity or Judaism
- The belief that past actions influence fate in the present day seems fairly logical
1. You get what you give- “As you sow, so hall you reap.”
Midterm lesson 5
- The universe always give back what we give.
- If what we want is happiness, peace, love… then we should be happy, peaceful, and
loving.
You will reap what you sow. Your harvest is ultimately your choice.- John Di Lemme
2. Humility- What your refuse to accept, will continue for you.
- If what we see is an enemy, or someone w/ a character trait that we find to be negative, then we
ourselves are not focused on a higher level of existence.
3. Growth- “Wherever you go, there you are”.
- For us to grow in Spirit, we must change and not the people, places, or things around us.
- When we change who and what we are within our heart, our life follows suit and changes too.
4. Responsibility- Not everything is a matter of forces acting outside our control. Many times, we create our
own reality.
- We mirror what surrounds us, and what surrounds us mirrors us.- We have to take
responsibility what is in our life.
The victim mindset dilutes the human potential. By not accepting personal responsibility for our circumstances,
we greatly reduce our power to change them. – Steve Maraboli
5. Connection- The smallest thing we do is connected to the largest things we do. Everything is interrelated.
- Neither the first step nor the last are of greater significance when completing a task, as they are
both needed.
- Past, present, future are all connected
6. Focus- You cannot think of two things at the same time.
- When our focus is on spiritual values, it’s impossible to have lower thoughts such as greed/anger.
- Brings more rewarding circumstances in our lives
7. Here and Now-Looking backward to examine what prevents us from being totally in the here and now.
- Old thoughts, old patterns of behavior, old dreams prevent us from having new ones.
8. Change- Life repeats itself until we’re ready to accept the lessons we need to learn.
9. Patience and Reward- Patience is a form of wisdom. It demonstrates that we understand and accept the fact
that sometimes things must unfold in their own time.
- Everything that’s worth it, rewards. Rewards come after we’ve exercised our patience-
not before.
10. Significance and Inspiration- Whatever you put into something, you get out.
- Whatever energy you put out there, that’s the energy you’re going to get back. –
Elie Tahari
- The true value of something is a direct result of the energy and intent that is put
into it.
- Give 110%. Don’t short change yourself, because when it’s all said and done,
you get out what you put in. – Mr. and Mrs. Dyson
- Loving contributuons bring life to, and inspire, the whole of whatever you’re
creating.
