MC-21

MC-21 is a perspective commercial aircraft with a capacity of 150 to 211


passengers. Irkut Corporation (a UAC company) is creating the plane within
a wide international cooperation

•  First aircraft for flight and strength tests are in production at the plant in
the Irkutsk city
•  An extensive program of aerodynamic, strength and endurance test confirm
design solutions
•  An extensive upgrading program of Russian enterprises resulted with
radically new technological environment
•  A system of technical and financial customers support is developed
•  The total number of orders for MC-21-300 and MC-21-200 aircraft is
273–175 of them are firm
AIRCRAFT ASSEMBLY
Irkut Corporation plant is manufacturing fuselage sections and carries
out its assembly

The logistics system ensures timely delivery of accessories and assembly


units to Irkutsk and to companies — participants of the MC-21 programme

Aircraft assembly is conducted by a new high-tech line, equipped with


positioning and laser measurement systems

Endurance, ruggedness and residual strength tests of the cylindrical section


of the fuselage, its panels and the rear pressure bulkhead are conducted

WING PRODUCTION
High aspect ratio wing made of polymer composites provide MC-21 with high
aerodynamic performance and fuel consumption reduction

New AeroComposit-Ulyanovsk plant is assembling the wing for the first aircraft

Spars, panels and other components of the wing are made of polymer
composite materials using the infusion technology at the new AeroComposite-
Ulyanovsk plant

Mounting of a unique assembly line, which allows production of wings with


fully installed high-lift systems, is underway

Wing box prototypes were successfully tested on static and fatigue strength

EMPENNAGE ASSEMBLY
The assembly of the fuselage section with empennage, made of composite
materials, is conducted at the Aviastar-SP plant

POWER PLANT
At the customer's demand MC-21 aircraft is equipped with two types of new
generation power plants:

PW1400G-JM Pratt & Whitney (USA) PD-14 United Engine


Corporation (Russia)

Both options provide reduction of fuel consumption, noise, emissions and life
cycle cost
PW1400G-JM ENGINE
The first MC-21 aircraft, to be
built in 2015, will be equipped
with PW1400G-JM engine
(Pratt & Whitney)

Engines belong to the


PurePower PW1000G engine
family and have the fan-drive
gear system of high efficiency
in their basis. PW1400G-JM
engine analogs successfully
passed the certification

TRAINING FACILITIES
A complex of technical training means is created for training of all categories
of MC-21 aircraft personnel

At the present moment procedure flight simulator is operated


at the JSC Aeroflot training centre and the full flight simulator is being installed

A light version of the procedural flight simulator is exhibited


at the Paris Air Show 2015

The program of technical means creation provides all simulators ready


for use 6 months before the first delivery of MC-21 aircraft to customers
