The Gettysburg address was given on November 19 in 1863 at soldiers National Cemetery in
Gettysburg Pennsylvania.
This cemetery was a burial ground for around 7500 soldiers..
The Gettysburg address is a speech that US president Abraham Lincoln delivered during the
American Civil War..

Four score and seven years ago our fathers brought forth, upon this continent, a new nation,
conceived in Liberty, and dedicated to the proposition that all men are created equal.
The first sentence means , 87 years ago , people came to this land ,declaring that it was a
place of freedom where no one is judged upon their race or humanity.

In his speech President Lincoln wants to remind the American people, what the soldiers died
for..
President Lincoln hope to Spark a fire , going to finish the war strong and unite the country.
Finally President Lincoln gave the Gettysburg address to honor and address the heroic and
bravery of all the soldiers who died on the battlefield.
The sentence “ the world will little note, nor long remember what we say here, but can never
forget what they did here” means that sure some will forget everything said in the speech but
they can't forget is what these soldiers did for us here .

Ultimately the Gettysburg Address had three main points
-One to remind the country, the vision of founding fathers have when they created the
country.
-Two to motivate the remaining soldiers and the union to keep on fighting the war
-Three to honor those who had died.
This speech is clearly important to American History due to the fact that it's known as one of
the best most well written speeches in the US
Other reason why it is so important or because of its short length , simple structure , yet great
impact
