Last 2017, The Department of Environment and Natural Resources-National Capital

Region (DENR-NCR) and the Pasig City government recently signed a Memorandum of
Agreement (MOA) to further promote sustainable urban farming in the city.

Under the MOA, DENR-NCR will assist the city government in its continuing
environmental projects like the city’s sustainable organic garden, urban gardening and
urban farming which promote environmental stability, biodiversity conservation and
food security.

The city’s urban gardening supports the National Greening Program under Executive
Order No. 26 signed by then President Benigno S. Aquino III. The program, spearheaded
by the DENR, is a massive forest rehabilitation program which seeks to grow 1.5 billion
trees in 1.5 million hectares nationwide.
