I. OBJECTIVES: By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to:

1. Knowledge:
a. Vocabulary: learn some words related to music and arts
b. Grammar: know some adjectives used to describe types of music
2. Competences: 
- read for specific information about traditional arts
- talk about a type of music/art they like
3. Qualities:
- be more interested in music and arts
- be proud of the Vietnamese traditional arts

I/ PRE- READING : (7’)
Students can brainstorm types of music and arts

T. shows some types of music and arts on the

TV and asks Ss to watch some pictures about
different types of art
Ss: - Work in groups to write down the types
of art they see on the screen (T may show the
pictures again if necessary)
- Give the answers
T. gets feedback and may give students more
information about certain type(s) of arts if
possible

+ Discuss the questions below with a partner.

- What kinds of traditional Vietnamese
performance do you know about? ( Hat cheo, T. then asks Ss to discuss the questions in the
cai luong, don ca tai tu, water puppet show...) textbooks
- Do you know about water puppetry? Have Ss. Work in pairs first then give the answers
you been to a water puppet show? If yes, did
you like it? Why/ Why not?
II/ WHILE- READING: (15’)
Students can read for specific information about a type of traditional arts – Water puppetry

8. Name one of your favourite painters.
9. Who can draw the best in your class? What
does he/ she often draw?
Decide which partner is X , which is O and who
will go first. The first player chooses a box and
calls out a number.

Player 2: OK, sing a song in English!

Tic Tac Toe to Ss
Ss work in pairs. Decide which partner is X ,
which is O and who will go first. The first
player chooses a box and calls out a number.
E.g:
Player 1: “ I want number 2”
Player 2: OK, sing a song in English!
Then he/she has to sing a song in English.
If the first player answers the question for that
box correctly he/ she can put an X or an O in
the box. The first person to get three Xs or
three Os in a row, wins!
