Pre-natal Care, Milestones of Fetal Growth and Development

At the end of this unit, the students are expected to:


1. Describe the areas of health assessment of commonly included in prenatal visits.
2. Assess the readiness for parenthood and the health status of a pregnant woman and
her family.
3. Identify expected outcomes to help ensure a safe pregnancy as well as manage
seamless transition across health care settings.
4. Describe the growth and development of a fetus by gestation week.
5. Identify National Health Goals related to fetal growth that nurses can help the nation
achieve.

subscription will suffice)
To facilitate the practice of students’ web navigation skills, the following rules must be implemented:
1. The use of search engines (e.g., Google, Yahoo) are allowed.
2. Use navigation techniques as mentioned in the required readings.
3. Students must submit this accomplished worksheet through Canvas upload.

Theresa, a 19-year-old primigravida, is seen for initial prenatal care at 24 weeks of gestation. She took the
day off from work in a factory and rode the bus to the clinic. She is currently living with her sister and brother in-law,
who receive Temporary Assistance for Needy Families. During the interview, Theresa states that she will not be
able to keep clinical appointments because she cannot afford to take more time off until the baby comes. She is
unmarried and says the father of the baby is “gone.” Physical assessment shows. Theresa and her fetus are healthy.
She declares she does not need further prenatal care and only needs to find someone to deliver the baby.

Instructions:
• Based on the given case scenario, formulate a nursing care plan (1-actual and 1- potential nursing
diagnosis, present your output using a visual presentation (Power point).
• One group will be chosen to present during synchronous class via zoom meeting for a maximum of 45
minutes.
• Submit your PowerPoint presentation through canvas upload in the assignment submission tab provided.
