Throughout history, music has crosses with politics.

Meaningful lyrics, powerful rhythms

became the movements of change.Tupac Shaku is thehighest selling rap artist of all time even

though he died in 1996 and only released four albums while he was alive. Tupac released his first

rap album on the record label Death Row , 2PacalypseNow, in 1991. 2PacalypseNow is 2Pac's

most overtly political work. He addresses contemporary social issues facing American society,

such a sracism, police brutality, poverty. Although the album was originally released on

Interscope Records , therights of it are now owned by Amaru Entertainment , founded by Tupac's

mother Afeni Shakur. The album's name is a reference to the 1979 movie “Apocalypse Now”.

Thealbum generated significant controversy stemming from then-U.S.Vice President

DanQuayle 's public criticism after a youth in Texas shot a state trooper and his defenseattorney

claimed he was influenced by 2PacalypseNow . Quayle made the statement, "There's no reason

for a record like this to bereleased. It has no place in our society." Even thoug the record never

achieved the same success asmany of 2Pac's later albums but it was important in showcasing

2Pac's political conviction and hisfocus on lyrical prowess.
