TRANSMITTAL SHEET
This Transmittal Sheet applies to the Revision 01, dated 20121203, of Service Bulletin
MCF-SBU-35-001
REVISION SEQUENCE
A. Effectivity
(1) Concerned equipment
This Service Bulletin applies to Crew Oxygen Mask Regulator MC10 Series and Full
Face Quick Donning Mask Regulator (MF10 Series, MF20 Series) listed in Appendix I
and repaired by IN-Services Middle-East between January 2008 and August 2012.
(2) In the field
Potential Defective Oxygen Mask (See Appendix I).
(3) Spare parts
Potential Defective Oxygen Mask (See Appendix I).
B. Concurrent Requirements
Affected customers should notify their usual Zodiac Services contacts in regards of their
location (ZS Europe, ZS UK, ZS Middle East, ZS Asia and ZS Americas).
C. Reason
This Service Bulletin is issued :
- To inform the operators of the potential risk of malfunction of oxygen mask due to an
improper maintenance task on an oxygen test bench used for the maintenance of oxygen
masks at IN-Service Middle-East repair station.
- To provide instructions for inspection and preventive replacement if necessary of potentially
defective oxygen mask.
D. Description
The test bench setting discrepancy combined with a maintenance operation on the oxygen
mask regulator could lead to an improper mask dilution schedule.
This condition, if not detected and corrected, could lead, in case of a diversion above 10,000
feet after a depressurization event, to inhalation of air poor in oxygen due to the bad dilution
setting, thereby providing inadequate protection against hypoxia to the affected flight crew
member, from headache, drowsiness to possibly resulting in unconsciousness and
consequent reduced control of the aeroplane.
E. Compliance
Incorporation of this Service Bulletin is mandatory (refer to EASA Airworthiness Directive AD
No: 2012-0254) :
- Investigative and associated corrective action on aircraft must be accomplished within
30 days after AD effective date.
- Recalibration action in shop must be accomplished within 12 months
after AD effective date.
F. Approval
This document was established in conformity with the INTERTECHNIQUE "Alternative
Procedures to Design Organisation Approval" ref. PGQ-5030 approved by the EASA.
Technical data were approved by INTERTECHNIQUE in conformity with § 21A.611 of PART
21.
The inspection procedures described in this VSB are reviewed and technically accepted by
Airbus Design Office to apply to the Airbus fleet affected.
This SB does not contain any change information that revises the equipment definition
covered by Airbus approved modification.
G. Manpower
(1) 1 technician
(2) Check only : 30 minutes.
(3) Complete Operation : 3 hours.

3. ACCOMPLISHMENT INSTRUCTIONS
Inspect the Flight Crew Oxygen Mask Regulator that is installed in the aeroplane to identify the
PNR and serial number.
If the PNR and serial number are listed in Appendix I of this Service Bulletin and if the mask-
regulator has not already been inspected (label on mask) replace the mask regulator with a
serviceable one.
Forward the defective oxygen mask to Zodiac Services or certified Part 145 workshop or maintenance
organisation approved by civil aviation authority, for inspection and recalibration if necessary.
A. Procedure.
(1) Remove the inflatable harness (Refer to CMM 35-13-60 or 35-13-61 or 35-13-63
Subtask 35-13-6x-020-001-A01).
(2) Remove the mask assembly (Refer to CMM 35-13-60 or 35-13-61 or 35-13-63 Subtask
35-13-6x-020-002-A01).
(3) Remove the Regulator assembly (Refer to CMM 35-13-60 or 35-13-61 or 35-13-63
Subtask 35-13-6x-020-005-A01).
Note: Keep the microphone assembly and the hose assembly fitted on the regulator.
(4) Do the test of the altitude compensated enrichment (Refer to CMM 35-13-70 or 35-13-74
subtask 35-13-7x-790-008-A01).
(a) If the test is correct:
1 Re-install the regulator, the mask assembly and inflatable harness as per
CMM 35-13-60 or 35-13-61 or 35-13-63.
2 Do the complete of the Oxygen mask (Refer to the CMM 35-13-60 or 35-13-
61 or 35-13-63 TESTING AND FAULT ISOLATION page block) .
3 Identify the inspection (see § 3. B.).
(b) If the test is not correct:
1 Remove of the coverplate assembly (Refer to CMM 35-13-70 or 35-13-74).
2 Adjustment of the Regulator (Refer to CMM 35-13-70 or 35-13-74 subtask
35-13-7x-420-006-A01).
3 Do the complete tests of the regulator (Refer to CMM 35-13-770 or 35-13-
74 Task 35-13-7x-700-801-A01)
4 Re-install the regulator, the mask assembly and inflatable harness as per
CMM 35-13-60 or 35-13-61 or 35-13-63.
5 Do the complete of the Oxygen mask (Refer to the CMM 35-13-60 or 35-13-
61 or 35-13-63 TESTING AND FAULT ISOLATION page block) .
6 Identify the inspection (see § 3. B.).
B. Indentification
(1) On a self adhesive label, write with an indelible ink or print the following text:
“INSPECTED AS PER SB MCF-SBU-35-001”
(2) Install the inspection label on the opposite side of the oxygen mask’ identification label.
C. Declaration of Inspection
(1) The form attached in appendix III is to be filled by the customer and sent to Zodiac
Services.
