Conflict of Interest Checklist
• all client names (current, former and other names used by the client);
1• all adverse parties;
1• partners or affiliates of the client;
1• spouse of the client;
1• names of any and all co-plaintiffs/co-defendants or third parties as the case may be;
1• all persons connected with the matter;
1• owners, officers and directors of a corporate client;
1• parent or subsidiary of a corporate client and officers and directors of these; and
1• any involvement by the client with any member of the law firm.
The following information will need to be stored in the conflict checking system with respect to each file opened in
order to run conflict checks appropriately and ensure they can be avoided:
• client name;
1• matter or file name;
1• matter or file number;
1• date the file was opened;
1• date the file is closed;
1• name of the lawyer(s) assigned to the matter;
1• brief description of the matter; and
1• names of opposing parties/conflict names.
