1 Overview

1.1 Usage Scale

This document defines the standard operation procedure (SOP) of ZXA10 C300M
network management commissioning configuration.

1.2 Objective

This SOP is applicable to the debugging personnel engaged in fixed network ZXA10
C300M products.

1.3 Usage Method

SOP documents of fixed network products adopt the “SOP + operation guide + reference”
architecture.

1. SOP explains what needs to be done in which sequence in order to achieve a goal.

2. Operation guide explains how to perform the operation procedure, that is, how to do
in detail.

3. References are a supplement to SOP and operation guide.

Senior engineers can accomplish corresponding operations by referring to SOP

documents only; junior engineers need to refer to the operation guide and references.
The operation guide and references are defined in the input files of corresponding SOP
activities.

1.4 Term Definition

ZXA10 C300Mequipment supports in-band and out-of-band network management at the

same time.

In-band network management: It completes the management of network equipment by

using the service channel provided by the managed equipment. The characteristic of
in-band networking is flexibility without the attached device. However, its downside is to
seize the service channel of maintenance information and when the service channel is
faulty, it cannot be maintained.

Out-of-band network management: It enables the management of network equipment by

using special network management channel. Out-of-band network requires additional
equipment networking to provide the maintenance channel irrelevant to service channel;
therefore, out-of-band network can provide more stable and reliable network
management channel compared with in-band network management. Even if service
channel is faulty, out-of-band network management can locate the equipment fault, and
monitor the equipment immediately.

3 Description of Each Step

3.1 Preparing for Network Management

Commissioning

As to hardware preparations, please refer to system debugging SOP. This step requires
the preparation of each data for network management commissioning. The required data
are as follows.

 VLAN planning: Plan the VLAN data for network management service.

 IP planning: Plan IP address of network management server and IP of each NE.

 Network planning: Plan relevant network management route of global network

topology.

3.2 Creating VLAN of Network Management

Purpose

To create service VLAN

Personnel

System debugging engineers that have passed Competence Certification Level-2 of

ZXA10 C300M

Procedure

1. Enter global configuration mode and create VLAN of network management by using
the command vlan x.
ZXAN(config)#vlan 100
ZXAN(config-vlan)#exit
ZXAN(config)#

2. Enter the uplink port mode, and add VLAN of network management with tag.
ZXAN(config)#interface gei_1/21/1

3.3 Configuring In-Band Management Address and

Route
Purpose

To configure the IP address of in-band network management and route

Personnel

System debugging engineers that have passed Competence Certification Level-2 of

ZXA10 C300M

Procedure

Enter config mode, configure the IP address of in-band management.

ZXAN(config-if)#ip address 10.63.184.213 255.255.255.0
ZXAN(config-if)#exit
ZXAN(config)#
If NMS and NE are in different network segment, need to set route
ZXAN(config)#ip route 10.61.86.0 255.255.255.0 10.63.184.254

3.4 Configuring Network Management Server

Parameter
Purpose

To configure the IP address of network management server and relevant parameters.

Personnel

System debugging engineers that have passed Competence Certification Level-2 of

ZXA10 C300M

Procedure

Configure the address of network management server according to data planning.
