As standard, (12) is a simple plug, a 1

longitudinal groove on the piston body links a
BACK section of the distributor (10) to the the lower
chamber (2). The high pressure creates a force
on the distributor(10) which pilot it in the lower

position so as to reverse the piston travel. 9

At the moment of the shock, the piston (3) hits
BACK the shank. If the ground is hard, the piston
bounces back but the circuits of the upper
chamber (6) are closed by the distributor, the

pressure increases in this chamber and open the 9

DIAPHRAGM PROTECTION SYSTEM
MENU

So as to protect the energy chamber A B

diaphragm, we don’t allow the drifter
to start before a minimum pre-set
pressure.
A) When the drifter is not operating
there is no pressure on the line (17).
The spring (19) pushed up the spool 14
(14) and the annular way (18) is
14
closed.
15 17 15 17
B) When the drifter starts the pressure
increases in the line (17) and is
applied on the section of the chamber
(15). The pressure creates a force 16 16
against the spring (19). As soon as the
force is superior to the spring pre-set
value force, the spool moves down
BACK and open the line (16) to the tank. The 18 18
drifter starts striking.
NEXT
The force of the spring is adjusted
with the washers (20) so as to pre-set
PREVIOUS the minimal pressure.

So as to avoid blank firing (no shank in front of the piston or very soft ground) there is a built in piston braking
zone. (See explanations of different strokes on file reverse percussion)
The piston shape (20) is composed with 4 different diameters which increases gradually (the first one has a smaller
diameter than the last one)
BACK The diameter of the reaming (21) is very close to the forth diameters
In maximal downward position, if there is no shank in front of the piston, we have to brake the piston.

When the zone (20) goes in the closed reaming, the oil cannot escape, the pressure increases depending on which
diameter is in the braking zone.
PREVIOUS (The first piston’s diameter creates a braking pressure, the second a higher braking pressure and so on…)

With the last one the piston is totally stopped

So as to avoid mechanical damages, the distributor spool needs to be slown down at each stoke end. For this purpose
there are 2 chambers (25) into which the spool hydraulic braking is done (pressure brake)
