Blood or Bonds of Family

Sometime the bond can be as strong as blood. Family proves to be one of the main

themes in the story Marrow Thieves by Cherie Dimaline, Frenchie, who loses his whole family

has to learn how to be a leader and integrate himself into another family that isn’t connected by

blood but bond. When Frenchie loses Mitch, he has to learn how to be on his own and how to be

role model to the group. Frenchie shows that by blood, family can have the same important

impact as one with just bond. He also proves that he can lead a family and survive being the

leader.

Either by bond or blood this story shows that family can have the same impact. As mitch

sacrifices himself Frenchie understands that he has to be what Mitch was to him to new group.

Obliviously it is not the same when you are born into a family but the impact and the

relationships you share can be similar.
