FEELINGS AND MORAL DECISION

Read and answer.
As per the PowerPoint presentation, Feelings affect our moral behavior and we help people on
the streets because we sympathize them.
Also, under the Anti-Mendicancy Law giving alms (limos) directly to mendicants (beggars),
exploited infants, and minors on public roads, sidewalks, parks and bridges is strictly prohibited
and violators will be punished.

Now, If you see a beggar on the street asking for money to you, are you going to give
because you sympathize and you feel the need to help or are you going to follow the Anti-
Mendicancy Law? and Why? Defend your answer.

This question is a matter between emotion and position. If I am going to choose between
the two, I would choose the law. I won’t give him/her money because this law is already
mandated and it is ought to be followed. Although I might be heartless in front of them, it is up
to them how they perceive me but I know in myself that I also wanted to help in my little ways. I
won’t give them money otherwise I will provide them food to eat. According to the Anti-
Medicancy Law, giving alms to the beggar right away would allow them to become dependent
on other’s people money instead of earning or seeking a job on their own. It is also found that if
we continue to give money to them would increase the probability of them getting involved in
drug addiction or any illegal activities which are completely depressing. Notwithstanding,
beggars are still becoming rampant and widespread across the streets of the country even law is
already established. This only means to say that the law is ineffective and poverty is still not
gradually eradicated. Thus, we need to be able to address this concern and we need to help them
by giving them the things that are necessary in place of money.
