MEDIA AND INFORMATION LITERACY

QUARTER 1: MODULE 1 & MODULE 2

WHAT’S MORE
Analyze the image below, then answer the questions that follow.

1. What is the message in this illustration?

- The illustration shows how the process of communication is being carried out
between people using various approaches. From what I have observed, the level
of intimacy depends on the medium they've used in transferring information. It
increases as they talk in person, and it is slowly decreasing due to the
involvement of technology in the conversation. The advancement can affect the
level of intimacy. For instance, it can reach a low extent when a person uses
Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter because of the number of audiences that can
see and make a judgment out of it.

2. Do you agree with this illustration regarding communication? Why/why not?

- Yes. People in today's generation prefer to communicate virtually due to the
advancement of technology, and the medium is being upgraded from time to time. It can
affect the sharing of intimacy and privacy of an individual. The availability of the person
being able to have a conversation through face-to-face contact is rare nowadays. But I
still prefer to communicate in person because, for me, it is still an effective way to share
your thoughts and feelings with someone in terms of personal matters.

3. How media affects communication in our everyday living?

- A piece of information can travel by any means of communication. We can use
any form for us to be able to deliver accurate data that can surely benefit the
community. Our ways of transporting change from time to time synchronous with the
world's evolution as it is getting older, and the media and technology are the main
factors of this development. Media plays an essential role in our society. It is the
channel and our source of information. It makes us aware of what is currently
happening throughout the world. With the media's prominent assistance, we can easily
access the needed data, especially in times like this.

ASSESSMENT

Instruction: Analyze and explain the illustration below. Established the connections
between media literacy, information literacy, and digital literacy.

The illustration portrayed the different modes of information dissemination. All the
details and pieces of information can travel into two mediums it could be digital and
traditional. People can gain or pass data with the assistance of these two. Television,
newspapers, and radio are the instruments to disseminate the news needed by the
public. Sending letters can also be useful in distributing private messages to someone.
In today's modernization, information can also be distributed online. But it is important to
analyze and evaluate its credibility because the data is now prone to manipulation that
resulted in fake news and information. Delivering and receiving information is like a
spider web. The details can travel by any means. It can start at the source passed by
the channels to flow to the people who need this for awareness and addition of
knowledge.
