1. What is a Computer?
A computer is a machine or device that follows instructions from a software or hardware
program to perform processes, calculations, and operations. It is capable of accepting data
(input), processing it, and then producing outputs. Computers can also store data in appropriate
storage devices for later use and retrieve it as needed.
2. History of a Computer?
The history of computers starts out about 2000 years ago in Babylonia (Mesopotamia), at the
birth of the abacus, a wooden rack holding two horizontal wires with beads strung on them.
Blaise Pascal is usually credited for building the first digital computer in 1642. The basic principle
of his calculator is still used today in water meters and modern-day odometers. Contrary to
Pascal, Leibniz successfully introduced a calculator onto the market. Charles Babbage, an English
mechanical engineer and polymath, originated the concept of a programmable computer.
Considered the «father of the computer”, he conceptualized and invented the first mechanical
computer in the early 19th century. After working on his revolutionary difference engine,
designed to aid in navigational calculations, in 1833 he realized that a much more general design,
an Analytical Engine, was possible.
3. Describe Computer System?
A computer system is a set of integrated devices which takes input, process it and give output.
Also, it stores data and information. Computer system allows users to input, manipulate and
store data. Computer systems include a CPU, monitor, keyboard, mouse and other optional
components.
4. 5 computer classification categories of a computer?
 Supercomputers
 Mainframe computers
 Minicomputers
 Personal computers
 Mobile computers
5. Two types of computer Software?
 System software
 Application software

6. Describes the communications and networks?

The field of networking and communication includes the analysis, design, implementation, and
use of local, wide-area, and mobile networks that link computers together. The Internet itself is
a network that makes it feasible for nearly all computers in the world to communicate. The
development of networks and communication protocols has also spawned distributed systems,
in which computers linked in a network share data and processing tasks. A client-server network
is a distributed system in which the database resides on one computer (the server) and the
users connect to this computer over the network from their own computers (the clients).

7. Identify how we use computers and technology in our Daily lives?

Computers have become our constant companions in recent years. It makes our lives easier by
allowing us to type and click the mouse whenever and wherever we want. It is extremely
important in our daily lives. They operate at such a high rate and with such precision that they
appear to relieve us of many mechanical tasks. Computers can be found in almost any setting,
including offices, hospitals, shopping malls, and even private residences. They assist us with
calculations, data storage, and organization, as well as entertaining and informing us.
