Meeting Summary
ARaymond is planning the construction of a new site in the Carisio area.
The greenfield project considers a new facility of approximately 26,000 m2. This project, reportedly
confidential, is considered a “pilot project” for future ARaymond facilities around the world.
Based on the current plan, production is expected to start at this new facility around the beginning of 2020.
The meeting organized at the ARaymond facility was focused on getting a preliminary overview of the
project and its status and sharing a comprehensive view of the FM Global approach and its engineering
services. This was to clarify mutual expectations, define a suitable plan of action tailored to ARaymond
needs and aimed at having a well-protected facility at the end of the project.
Below is a summary of the main topics discussed during the visit reporting the plan of action for the near
future:
• Mr. Galla is the ARaymond project manager. It has been agreed that Fabio Quattrini, FM Global loss
prevention engineer, will be the assigned to assist ARaymond for this specific project. The position
of the new facility has not been identified yet, and five locations are currently under evaluation.
A flood office evaluation was completed by FM Global after the visits. Based on the attached
available flood maps from http://pianoalluvioni.adbpo.it/mappe-del-rischio-2/download-mappe/, all
areas are not flood exposed for a 500-year return period flood. Below is an abstract from the maps:

The areas under evaluation in Santhià and Tronzano Vercellese are circled in red (flood map, 136

The areas under evaluation in Carisio are circled in red. In yellow is the current Araymond facility
(flood map 115 SE).
All areas under evaluation are located in a > 500-year earthquake zone based on FM Global
classification.
It is reported that the choice of the new area will be completed in June 2018 by ARaymond top
management.
• The choice of the engineering company in charge of the project and of a general contractor is
ongoing. As highlighted during the meeting, it is strongly recommended to identify consultants
familiar with FM Global codes. This will allow optimal solutions to be identified (for example, the
suitable construction features to facilitate a smooth and economical installation of fire protection
systems) and solutions that could compromise the protection of the site to be avoided. With this
perspective, it has been confirmed that the knowledge of FM Global standards will be considered
during the selection of the engineering company. As reported by Mr. Galla, FM Global support will
be requested from the beginning as required by ARaymond corporate and supported by local
Managing Director Mr. Carena.

Selection of the engineering company is expected to be completed in the next few weeks. It has been
agreed to meet the selected company toward the end of July to evaluate preliminary draft
construction drawings, clarify FM Global approach and propose, if needed, potential alternative
solutions to avoid “killer issues” in the project.
FM Global thanks ARaymond personnel for the genuine interest in having a new, well-protected facility.
Sincerely,
Fabio Quattrini
Loss Prevention Engineer
