REASEARCH METHODOLOGY
Research Design
This study would adopt a qualitative research design in terms of a case
study for its research design. This is because case study approach has a
considerable ability to generate answers to the questions „why‟? as well
as „what‟? and „how”? This is as a means for exploring and
understanding the meaning individuals or groups attribute to social
problem The process of qualitative research involves emerging questions
and procedures, data typically collected in the participant’s setting, data
analysis inductively building from particulars to general themes and the
researcher making interpretations of the meaning of the data

Population of study
The population of this study comprises employment income earners,
business owners, rent property owners, and self-employed individuals
such as hair dressers and seamstresses in the greater Accra region of
Ghana.

Sample size
A total of 300 respondents were sampled from the population. The
sample includes 30 business owners, 30 rent property owners, 150
employment income earners, 40 hair dressers 50 seamstresses in the
greater Accra region of Ghana. This constitutes 10%, 10%, 50%,
13.33%, and 16.67 % of the sample respectively.
Sampling procedure
Non-probabilistic methods of convenient and purposive sampling
technique would be used because of the need to obtain responses from a
particular group of respondents.

Data collection instrument

Data collection instruments are tools that are used to collect data for a
study. In conducting a study, the researcher needs to choose the type of
instrument that is appropriate for the purpose of the research such as
questionnaires, interviews. For the purpose of our study, Questionnaire
and face-to-face interview would be used to obtain primary data from
the respondents. because it will help to understand and explain tax
evasion.

Data processing and analysis

Data obtained shall be analyzed through the use of descriptive statistics.
Specifically, Bivariate analysis, this is one of the simplest forms of
statistical analysis, used to find out if there is a relationship between two
sets of values. This will be used to test relationship between variables
such as ignorance about the tax laws, level of education, dependency
ratio and income of elements of the study. This was done by using
scatter plots, correlation coefficients and regression analysis.
