ELCC 1.1: Candidates understand and can collaboratively develop, articulate, implement, and
steward a shared vision of learning for a school.

This is a needs assessment that allows the leaders to identify current student and school needs
that they have and how well they are currently being met. This online needs assessment survey
tool also will see how well the action items on the school’s CIP/SIP plan are being met. The
needs assessment survey is designed specifically to collect information from school faculty and
staff about their ability to meet their student needs. After the survey has been filled, this
reference sheet also analyzes the relationship between budgetary decisions, continuous
improvement plans, and the established vision and mission of the school.
School Budgetary Needs Assessment Survey

This is a needs assessment of 9 questions that target how well the action items on the school’s
improvement plan are being met. These questions will specifically collect information from
school faculty and staff about their ability to meet student needs. The reason for doing this is due
to the fact that “a needs assessment can offer an opportunity for a school to refocus and to gather
insights into the school improvement process” (Center for Comprehensive School Reform and
Improvement, 2009) This input is needed in order to finding where the areas of focus are well
implemented and what are areas that can be worked on. When conducting a comprehensive
needs assessment there are three main steps; and the third one “is interpreting the data by the
entire school community—administrators, teachers, staff, families, and community members—in
order to develop school improvement goals that are based on data and supported by all
stakeholders.” (Center for Comprehensive School Reform and Improvement, 2009) Other
stakeholders who would need to be surveyed are also paraprofessionals since they are a big part
of the classroom. As well as parents and their role in helping their children meet the district
goals. “Needs assessment accomplishes three main goals. First, it helps educators understand the
needs of various stakeholders and subpopulations of a school community.” (Moore-Thomas &
Erford, 2003) With doing a needs assessment we can find out and understand where the needs of
teachers, staff, and parents are. We will be able to target where we can provide resources,
training, and support to these stakeholders to help them be able to teach and support students.
These needs assessment “leads to continual quality improvements in educational programs”
(Moore-Thomas & Erford, 2003)

When we look at the data we can see where the greatest needs are for our stakeholders to
implement strategies to help students reach the goals that are tied to our school improvement
plan. If it’s a lack of resources or strategies, we will be able to target the things that are low, and
then we will be able to help teachers and other stakeholder’s works betters with students to
improve.
