I. Rationale
Human Rights Day is observed by the international community every year on
December 10. It commemorates the day in 1948 the United Nations General Assembly
adopted the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
Human rights are rights we have simply because we exist as human beings - they are
not granted by any state. Human rights are universal, indivisible and interdependent.
So, no matter what distinctions people have, there is one basic principle that underlies
all the rights outlined in the UDHR: that every human being has the same inalienable
rights. This means human rights are the same for every man, woman and child across
the world, no matter what their circumstances.
Human Rights Day 2021 is more important than other years as the Covid-19 crisis has
been fueled by deepening poverty, rising inequalities, structural and entrenched
discrimination, and other gaps in human rights protection.
Throughout the day, we are celebrating Human Rights Day to reaffirm the importance of
human rights in re-building the world we want, with global solidarity, interconnectedness
and shared humanity.
III. Methodology/Strategy
The activities will start on October 17, 2021, wherein the Center for Human
