JET LAG
Jet lag is caused by a mismatch between a person's
normal daily (24-hour circadian rhythms) rhythms and a
new time zone. It is a temporary sleep problem that
usually occurs when you travel across more than three
time zones but can affect anyone who travels across
multiple time zones. Jet lag can affect your mood, your
ability to concentrate, and your physical and mental
performance.

Jet Lag
Traveling or vacationing abroad with a different time zone can cause us to experience a condition called jet lag.
Jet lag is an uncomfortable feeling or condition in the body. This condition is the result of long-haul flights that
are carried out in a short time and pass through several time zones. Well, when you are in a new time zone, your
body will naturally adjust to the time you are in. For example, when we travel by plane from Indonesia to
abroad at different times. Jet lag occurs because the body is "confused" to adjust to the new time.
Jet lag experienced by the body after traveling long
distances across different time zones is actually a
physiological condition or related to the functions and
mechanisms that work in the body. When experiencing jet
lag, it is actually related to the circadian pattern or rhythm
in our body. Circadian patterns are rhythms that determine
our time to be active for 24 hours or a day. Well, this
circadian rhythm regulates when we have to sleep or wake
up which is influenced by light and will later have an
influence on the brain..lag.
Bright light is a sign for the body that we must move. Meanwhile, low light, dim, or even dark
will make the body produce melatonin, which causes us to sleep. However, by traveling in
different time zones, this eventually affects the circadian patterns of the body and causes jet
SYMPTOM
The symptomatology of jet lag can often be difficult to define because of variation
between people, but also because the same person can experience different
symptoms after each flight. Jet-lagged travelers typically experience 1 of the
following symptoms after a flight across >3 timezones:
Poor sleep, including difficulty initiating sleep at the usual time of night (after
eastward flights), early awakening (after westward flights), and fractionated sleep
(after flights in either direction)
Poor performance in physical and mental tasks during the new daytime
Negative feelings such as fatigue, headache, irritability, anxiety, inability to
concentrate, and depression
Gastrointestinal disturbances and decreased interest in, and enjoyment of,meals
Symptoms are difficult to distinguish from the general fatigue resulting from
international travel itself, as well as from other travel factors such as the hypoxia
in the aircraftcabin.
