spiral is then drawn inside the squares by connecting the corners of the boxes. The larger the
numbers in the Fibonacci sequence, the closer the ratio is to the golden ratio.

Mathematics is everything. It is a science of numbers which deals with the four fundamental
operation, calculation and all the logical terms topics. It is also the study of numbers, shapes and
patterns. Mathematics is often defined as “a formal system of thought for recognizing, classifying
and exploiting patterns” (Stewart,1995). Everyone uses mathematics in our day to day lives, and
most of the time, we do not even realize it.
Mathematics is more than just helpful and useful. When we stand, walk, run and even exercise
there is a mathematics. Math is everywhere, in Science, English, Philosophy, History,
Physical Education and to all subjects that we have there’s mathematics. It makes us to have
critical thinking, reasoning, creativity, experiments and also to research. Mathematics provides an
effective way of building mental discipline and encourages logical reasoning and mental rigor. It
helps us to solve problems and equations and to find who we are, why we are here living in this
planet and why the world existed. Mathematics helps us understand the world and we use the
world to understand mathematics. It is also a powerful tool for global understanding and
communication. Using it, we can make sense of the world and solve complex and real problems.
More importantly, we will be able to use data to draw defensible conclusion, and use
mathematical knowledge and skills to make real-life impact.

consecutive year from 2015 – 2020; 4 038 (2015), 4 736 (2016), 4 815 (2017), 4 841 (2018), 4
863 (2019), 4 867 (2020). Based on the data, how many individuals added from the starting year
Given: the population in the barangay of the consecutive year (2015 – 2020)
n=b–a
n=b–a
n = 4,867 – 4,038
Step 4:
Finding the difference between the starting number of population (2015 and the current
1.
Step 1: Understand the Problem
At first, Swiper jumped into Dora's path and stole half of her cookies plus two more.
Before she could eat casually her cookies, Swiper jumped into her path and stole again half of
her cookies plus two more. On the third time, swiper jumped into her again and stole half of her
cookies plus two more.
Now, we need to find how many pieces of cookies had been in Dora’s backpack.
Step 2: Devise a Plan
Use divide and conquer strategy
Step 3: Carry out the Plan
2 + 2 = 4*2 = 8
8 + 2 = 10*2 = 20
20 + 2 = 22*2 = 44
Step 4: Look back
44/2 = 22 – 2 = 20
20/2 = 10 – 2 = 8
8/2 = 4 – 2 = 2
Therefore, Dora has 44 cookies in her backpack

Step 1: Understand the Problem
The given in the problem 26 heads and 68 legs
Cows have 4 legs and ducks have 2 legs
We are trying to determine how many cows and ducks does Irish father has on his farm.
Step 2: Devise a Plan
We are going to use guess and check strategy along with making a table to get the answer from
the data we collect.
Step 3: Carry out the Plan
Ducks Cows No. of ducks No. of cows legs Total number of
legs legs
15 11 30 44 74
17 9 34 36 70
Notice we are going in the wrong direction! The total number of legs increasing.
Ducks Cows No. of ducks No. of cows legs Total number of
legs legs
16 10 32 40 72
18 8 36 32 68

Step 1: Understand the Problem
Alden gets on a train that arrives five in the afternoon. Nikka leaves the house before five
and arrives at the train station at five pm to pick up Alden. Alden leaves early on Tuesday and
catches a train that arrives at 4 pm. Alden arrives at home 10 minutes earlier.
We need to find how many minutes did Alden walk.
Step 2: Devise a Plan
Use divide and conquer strategy
Step 3: Carry out the Plan
10 minutes/ 2 = 5 minutes
5 pm – 4 pm = 1 hour or 60 minutes
60 minutes – 5 minutes = 55 minutes
4.
Step 1: Understand the Problem
Dominic wants to buy a car the same price as Barbara.
The car sticker says 850,000 pesos, Barbara discount was 20%, the salesman offers him 10%
discount. The salesman took another 5% of the 10 % discounted price.
Was he right? Do they both pay the price
Step 2: Devise a Plan
Multiply and subtract
Step 3: Carry out the Plan
Original car price: 850, 000 pesos Discount 850, 000 pesos
× .20 or 20% - 170, 000 pesos
= 170, 000 pesos 680, 000 pesos
Dominic car price:
Original car price: 850, 000 pesos 1st Discount: 850, 000 pesos
× .10 or 10% - 85, 000 pesos
85, 000 pesos 765, 000 pesos
5.
Step 1: Understand the Problem
Your house is 2 km. from the stream and the house of you aunt is 12 km west and 1 km north
from you house. First, you must go to the stream and get some water for your aunt.
What is the shortest distance of the route?
Step 2: Devise a Plan
Let a – distance from the stream to the 1 km north of your house.
b – distance from 1 km north of your house to your aunt house
c – distance from the stream to your aunt house.
Use a² + b² = c² strategy then plus two
Step 3: Carry out the Plan
a² + b² = c²
3² + 12² = c²
9 + 144 = c²
153 = c²
√c² = √153
C = 12. 4 km
12. 4 km + 2 km = 14. 4 km.
1. Criminal Case
Renaldo Valencia Vs. People of the Philippines
The Regional Trial Court found the testimonies of the prosecution witnesses to be categorical
and straightforward in pointing to Valencia as the person driving the jeepney that hit Jaquilmo,
eventually leading to his death.19 On the other hand, the Regional Trial Court found defense
witness Mirandilla to be an unreliable witness.
The Regional Trial Court stated that Mirandilla’ s testimony is unworthy of belief, as he was
“glib in his testimony persistently embellishing his answers to the questions with impertinent and
irrelevant matters not called for by the questions propounded by the defense counsel
In discussing the elements of reckless imprudence resulting to homicide, the Regional Trial
Court pointed out that as the driver of a passenger jeepney, a common carrier, Valencia was
tasked to observe extraordinary diligence, both in driving his jeepney and in dealing with his
passengers, It concluded that Valencia failed to see the victim walking in I front of or beside the
jeepney-because the accident happened very early in the morning and Valencia had probably just
woken up, making him not yet fully alert and ready to drive a passenger
The dispositive of the Regional Trial Court June 1, 2015 Judgment23 WHEREFORE, in the [sic]
light of the foregoing ratiocinations, the Court hereby renders judgment finding the accused-
Reynaldo Valencia y Vibar GUILTY beyond reasonable doubt of the culpable felony of
RECKLESS IMPRUDENCE RESULTING IN HOMICIDE defined and penalized under Article
365 of the Revised Penal Code qualified by failing to lend on the spot to the victim such help as
may be in the hands of the accused to give. Consequently, accused Reynaldo Valencia y Vibar is
hereby sentenced to undergo an indeterminate prison sentence of FOUR (4) YEARS[,] TWO (2)
MONTHS and ONE (1) DAY as the MINIMUM to SIX (6) YEARS, ONE (1) MONTH AND
ELEVEN (11) DAYS as the MAXIMUM.
