Dear Jarlath Quinn,

Our names are Margaret smith, Johnson Lennon, Gabriel Timothy and Lisa Dorotha and we are
constituents of your catholic church.
I am writing to you on behalf of all the people around the word who have been silenced to own and speak
about their sexuality. As a gay person myself, I have also found it hard to be the person I am when people
from the catholic church or other communities such as yours have spat at me on the street! Performed
surgery on me and have condemned me to “hell” all because I and other’s like me find pleasure in the same
sex.
This is a worldly issue that has been going on for centuries, and an issue that has stemmed from your bible
which as we all know has been changed every decade. Did you know that 55% of American’s believe it is a sin
to engage in homosexuality behavior, and that view is more prevalent among those who have a high level of
religious commitment? There have been many events through-out the years where gay people have done
nothing but walk on the street or catch a bus, only to be then brutalized and beaten up for the purpose of
being in close proximity to a straight person. Such as Declan Flynn, a brother, uncle and son who was beaten
to death with sticks at Fairview park.
Christians used to believe that slavery was condemned by the bible. But we have now come to see that slavery
is wrong, therefore shouldn’t Christians change their interpretation on homosexuality just as you did with
slavery, so that we can move forward. We can raise awareness of this issue by gathering up witnesses of
brutality towards homosexuals, and others who support us in order to create a convincing and factual case
that we can then use to spread awareness of the issue around the world. So that we can then change.
Sir, with your support we could really help change the world and increase the safety and love of our gay
community. I would really apricate your support in this by enabling me to meet up with you and start to create
a case file where we can raise awareness of the issue and present it to the house of commons to then
international tv, which will make the world see the issue in a different light.
Please do keep me informed of any progression made.
We look forward to hearing from you.
Yours sincerely
