Week 2 (Module 2): Kinds of Quantitative Research and It’s Importance Across the Field
What’s In
I want to make a portable nebulizer ever since I was in junior high school, but it would
cost too much. It’s hard to have asthma, and I know it’s hard to have COVID, so I came up with
this idea that could lessen the time when having shortness of breath, or if the patient needs
oxygen. You can also bring it to your house because it’s convenient and rechargeable.

What’s New
Investigation, Testing
1. Descriptive research is a type of research that describes a population, situation, or phenomenon that
is being studied. It focuses on answering the how, what, when, and where questions If a research
problem, rather than the why.
2. Correlational research is a type of non-experimental research in which the researcher measures two
variables and assesses the statistical relationship or the correlational between them with little or no
effort to control extraneous variables.
3. Evaluation research can be defined as a type of study that uses standard social research methods for
evaluative purposes, as a specific research methodology, and as an assessment process that employs
special techniques unique to the evaluation of social programs.
4. Survey research is a quantitative method to collect information from a pool of respondents by asking
multiple survey questions. Respondents answer a series of questions of a designed survey, that survey
makers and researchers use to improve their products or services.
5. Experimental research is a quantitative research method with a scientific approach, where a set of
variables are kept constant while the other set of variables are being measured as the subject of an
experiment. Learn about various types of experimental research design along with its advantages.

What I Can Do
Additional Activities
1. Our research explores the various STEM fields and highlights opportunities for both students and
teachers to investigate together. When considering the future of STEM it is important to analyze the
trends of both females and other underrepresented groups considering these fields. Research show
horrifying statistics – 78% of high-school graduates have been proven unprepared for college courses,
including courses in mathematics, science, reading, and English. Better STEM education before the
college level will encourage students to enroll in these courses there, and perhaps decide to pursue a
career in related fields.
2. The Accountancy, Business, and Management (ABM) research focuses on the basic concepts of
financial, marketing, and business management. ABM research explores various strategies employed
in the business, marketing, and accounting spheres.
3. HUMSS studies our behavior in all contexts possible. It creates a complex overview of our nature on
both individual and intercultural scales. Our identities, heritage, and culture are what make us
conscious human beings. Also, religion is included as a prominent social science research title.
