Abstract
Title: Full thickness skin grafts in eyelid disorders

Purpose : To present the outcome of full thickness skin grafts in eyelid disorders

Material and methods: Clinical records of eight consecutive patients in whom

full thickness skin grafts was done from January 2011 to August 2012 were
analysed.

Results: Average age was 40.83 years. Indications included, exposure

keratopathy, corneal melt and cosmesis. Aetiology were post traumatic cicatricial
ectropion (75%) , thermal injury in one (12.5%) and chemical burn in 1(12.5%).
Full thickness skin grafting was done in all patients. Common donor site was inner
aspect of arm. Postoperative improvement in vision, good eyelid contour, skin
coloration and correction of lagophthalmos was achieved in all. Regrafting was
required in one patient who had graft failure in early post-operative period.
Conclusion: Full thickness skin grafts are essential in preserving vision in cases
with burns. Optimal results can be achieved with meticulous surgical technique
and relevant post-operative care.

ABSTRACT
Title: Wide Clinico-Radiological spectrum of Orbital Schwannomas
Purpose: To study clinical, radiological features and outcome in
histopathologically proven orbital schwanomas.
Material and methods: Retrospective analysis of clinical data of 16 patients over
12 years were analysed.
Results: The mean age was 28.18 years. Presentation was chronic in 93%. Chief
complaints were proptosis in 10(62.5%), eyelid swelling in 5(31.25%) and eyelid
mass lesion in 2(12.5%). This included a rare case of cystic schwannoma with
microphthalmos. Mass was extraconal in 11(68.75%). Radiological findings varied
from solid to cystic, intraconal to extraconal, no enhancement to intense
enhancement and presence of calcification. Differential diagnosis of meningioma
and cavernous hemangioma was kept in 8 due to variable clinico-radiological
features. Postoperatively, vision improved or remained stable in 15(93.75%). Final
visual acuity of 6/6 was achieved in 11(68.75%).
Conclusion: Schwannomas may mimic a variety of mass lesions in the orbit
because of variable clinical or imaging features and should be considered in the
differential diagnosis of all well circumscribed orbital lesions.

ABSTRACT

Title: A rapidly growing rare Orbital mass in a child: diagnostic and management
challenge.

Abstract: A 3 year old female child presented with a painless, progressive, large
reddish-pink, subconjunctival mass in supero-temporal quadrant of 3 months
duration. It was soft to firm in consistency, non-tender and adherent to ocular
coats. Differential diagnosis of rhabdomyosarcoma, leukemic mass and
granulocytic sarcoma was kept. Imaging showed an enhancing large orbital mass
adjacent to globe. Near total surgical excision was done. It was found to be
adherent to scleral coats. Histopathogy reported a low grade malignant tumor
with spindle shaped cells and neural differentiation. Clinical presentation and
management of this rare tumor is reported.
