Key Information

COURSE REQUIREMENTS
AND DELIVERY
What does an Information Manager do?
Information Managers ensure that information meets required quality and specifications. They are required to
collect, manage and transfer information effectively, ensuring its value is understood, maximised and reused.

In doing so, Information Managers also play an important role in analysing and utilising information gathered
during the project lifecycle, to develop further insight and drive innovation and collaboration for better future
working.

Who is the Information Management


Apprenticeship suitable for?
This qualification is suitable for those who are already responsible for, or part of a team which is responsible for,
managing information on a day-to-day basis, particularly in relation to specific projects.

It is suitable for a range of sectors,however there are elements of the course which have an enhanced focus on
industry standards and procedures within construction , engineering, manufacturing, energy, transportation, logistics
and power.

How will candidates achieve the qualification?


You will be assessed based your competencies for a pre-defined set of knowledge, skills and behaviours, via two
different assessment methods.

ASSESSMENT METHOD 1
At the end of the 24 months and once your employer is satisfied you are working at the required level, you will undertake
the 'End Point Assessment' (EPA). As part of this you will be required to complete a work-based project report, undertake
a professional discussion and deliver a presentation, to an external assessor or 'End Point Assessment Organisation'.

ASSESSMENT METHOD 2
Throughout the course programme, you will collate a portfolio of evidence that demonstrates your competency for
the role. This will be reviewed by an external assessor and will form the foundations of the professional discussion during
the EPA.

Delivery of the Information Manager Qualification will take a


blended approach. DURATION

CPD sessions will take place. These will be delivered by industry Apprenticeship
experts and specialists, to provide enhanced learning towards the
qualification and the information manager role.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
Candidates will need to be in a
relevant role, and have a Level 2
qualification in maths and English.

COST
Government funding is
available. The Apprenticeship
Levy can be used to cover
costs.

Candidates will gain a full PROJECT DATA
understanding of the tactics, strategy
and some deployment methods related

to the collection of operational data


for a specific project or service,
including the difference between
project data and operational data.

MODULE 5
DATA SECURITY
& INTEGRITY OVERVIEW

This module focuses on the need for
detailed security surrounding the data
that the IM works with, controls,
shares and receives. It will look a
different applications of software
security, the legal obligations and
consequences of breach, the physical
security requirements and on the
contractual and contractual audit
needs in a shared data terrain. The
candidate will develop a local and
shared security profile and then
critically evaluate the workplace
provision against their own profile.

MODULE 6a
CONCEPTS &
OVERVIEW
This module looks at the function of PRACTICE
the IM in a general context. What is
the IM there to achieve? What is the

purpose of the role, why is it needed?


The candidate will work closely with
the employer to develop a measure of
why the employer utilises the IM role
and what the employer sees as the
demand that is met by the function.
The candidate will use this applied
knowledge and classroom based
activity to develop training materials
to be delivered that cover the function
of the IM and how their organisation
deploys the function.

what is required and at what
lifecycle stage.
Data management policy
application and non-compliance

Prepare education materials on the
policies and procedures for CDE as
training for third parties, including
feedback and quality improvement

MODULE 6b
DATA SECURITY OVERVIEW
& INTEGRITY This module looks at the function of the
IM in practice. This module will look at
some of the systems in use in the
employer organisation that supports
(delivers and receives) CDE data
interchanges with supply chain partners
and how those systems are used to
regulate compliance.Further examination
of the broader system profile in use in
major sectors, engineering, construction,
telecommunications, cloud etc and how
these systems facilitate CDE interchange
in their respective supply chains.

MODULE 7
ESTIMATING &
OVERVIEW
This module looks at the estimating MANAGEMENT
and management functions of the IM
role. Data acquisition can be a time

consuming and/or costly exercise.The


candidate will examine the methods of
external and internal data acquisition
(now in conjunction with prior learning
related to contractual and regulatory
obligations) and the costs and issues
related to each. The candidate will
explore the moral aspects of data
mining in light of recent breaches and
abuse of inadequate control measures
incidents.
