CLEARING UP OF CONCEPTS
Determine which domain and level of learning are targeted by the following learning
competencies taken from the BEC guides. This activity is important because your choice of
assessment method is contingent on the learning
domains and levels of the learning outcomes and competencies.

Activity 6

1.Learning Outcome: Use verbs in simple present tense.

Assessment Method: Oral Questions
Check (/): Match (/) Do not Match ______ *
-Match because the learning outcome is verb simple tense, you can use oral
questioning by asking them example of verb present tense no need to use written
assessments.
2.Learning Outcome: Makapagbibigay halimbawa na pagtupad at hindi pagtupad ng
Karapatan ng bawat kasapi mula sa mga serbisyo ng komunidad.
Assessment Method: Selected-response
Check (/): Match_______ Do not Match (/)
-The learning Outcome is a wide idea, I think Selected-response is not fitted in
this learning outcome because it is not measurable and there is a limitation of
giving idea in this assessment method. For me, it is better if use assessment
method like essay for them to widen their ideas to meet the expected learning
outcome.
3.Learning Outcome: Name the pictures that begin its name with a particular
consonant.
Assessment Method: Oral Question
Check (/): Match_______ Do not Match (/)
-Oral question is not applicable in the learning outcome. It is better if use the
Selected-response method for them to give selections of pictures begin its
name with a particular constant.

4.Learning Outcome: Conduct an investigation to provide evidence that plants can

manufacture their own food.
Assessment Method: Performance assessment
Check (/): Match (/) Do not Match ______
-Match, because it allows the student to recognize the problem. This method
enrich the experiences and wisdom of the student in doing or performing the
given task.
5.Learning Outcome: Demonstrate the generation of electricity by movement of a
magnet through a coil
Assessment Method: Essay

Check (/): Match_______ Do not Match(/)

-Did not match because the learning outcome it self is to demonstrate, How can
you demonstrate the generation of electricity be movement of a magnet through a
coil in essay? I think it is better if use the performance assessment as a method to
achieved the given learning outcome.
6.Learning Outcome: Listen perceptively to selected art songs and excerpts of
opera.
Assessment Method: Observation
Check (/): Match (/) Do not Match ______
-Match, for me observation is the best method in this kind of Learning outcome. After
the observation ask your students to make a reflection about the selected art song and
excerpts of opera.

Activity 7

Below is a Learning Plan for Grade 7 Mathematics.

Topic: Describing Data through Statistical Measures
Learning Competencies: (adapted from the BEC guide)
At the end of the unit, the students should be able to:
1. Explain the basic concepts, uses and importance of Statistics.
2. Pose questions and problems that can be answered using Statistics
3. Gather statistical data and organize data in a frequency distribution table
according to some systematic considerations
4. Use appropriate graphs to represent organized data.
Assessment Evidences
Performance Task 1 (Group): Class data
After your teacher taught statistics, you imagined how it would be like to
collect, organize
and present data. You decided to measure the height and weight of your
classmates.
The class is to be divided in groups of 15 members. You are to measure your
classmates’ height (in cm) and weight (in kg), organize and present the
collected data by constructing a stem-leaf plot, frequency distribution table,
and histogram for each set of data, and scatter plot to show the relationship
between the variables. Provide a short description for each. Each graphic
organizer is placed on a 1/8 illustration board with appropriate labels and
complementary designs. You shall be graded based on the following criteria:
(a) correctness, (b) completeness and (c) neatness.
Other evidences:
Assignment Boardwork
Seatwork Quiz

Answer the following Questions:

1.Which learning competencies are targeted by the performance task?
-Gather statistical data and organize data in a frequency distribution table
according to some systematic considerations
-Use appropriate graphs to represent organized data.

2.Is the performance task a good measure of student understanding of the topic?
Why or why not?
-Yes the performance task measures the student understanding because it allows
the student to allow actual performance and I believed that the performance task
allow the student to measure themselves, they achieved the given learning
outcome.
3.Are the assessments enumerated under ‘other evidences’ appropriate in meeting
the learning targets? What other assessments can you recommend?
-Yes,Aside from the assessment enumerated under other evidence I think the
teacher will also use the method of oral questioning because it allows the student
to give examples and also give their observation on the topic.

Activity 7

Create a sample assessment matrix on a TOPIC OF YOUR CHOICE. Complete the
