LEARNING OUTLINES:
Pre-Lesson Starter
(5 Minutes) 1. Teacher informs the pupils about today’s topic, learning objectives, pupils’
success criteria and the list of activities.
Set induction
1. Teacher writes the word “phonemes” on whiteboard and explain to pupils
the meaning of the word.
2. Teacher demonstrates example of phonemes by making sound of certain
letters.
3. Teacher distributes the mini whiteboard to the pupils
4. Teacher says the sound of a letter and the pupils guess the letter by
writing down on their own mini whiteboard.
5. Pupils will put up their mini whiteboard to show their answers to the
teacher.

Activity 1: Read and blend


1. Teacher shows a word with the picture to explain the meaning of the word.
2. The words are lake, match, pet, cent, sing, big, lost, frog, much, fun,
3. Pupils say the word by using blend phonemes skill. Teacher demonstrates
on how to blend phonemes into word. Main
4. Teacher holds each of the sounds a little bitten longer and don’t have a

6. Pupils reads the sentence in activity 4. The sentence is “Mum jumps in the

Lesson
Development Activity 2: Arrange it correctly.
(40 Minutes) 1. Teacher asks pupils to hold a letter of a word, but the arrangement is
scrabbled.
2. For each letter, pupils need to say the sound of the letter.
3. Pupils try to arrange the letter to form a word. Comp
4. Pupils say the word using blend phoneme skill when they are able to
arrange the letter into word.

Activity 3: Word puzzle.


1. Pupils do the word puzzle prepared by the teacher.
2. The words will be based on the targeted words.
3. Upon completion of the word search, pupils are called out and say the
words in the word search.
Closure
Post Lesson 1. Pupils will read the success criteria again.
(5 Minutes) 2. Pupils will answer the success criteria to check their understanding and to
see if they are able to pass the criteria and succeed the lesson.
