Experiment 3.3
Problem statement: What are the factors that affect the growth of microorganisms?
Aim : _________________________________________________________________________________
Variables:
(a) Manipulating : ________________________________________________________________________
(b) Responding : _________________________________________________________________________
(c) Constant : ____________________________________________________________________________
Procedure:
1. A papaya is cut into five portions.
2. Four portions of the papaya are put into beakers labeling V, W, X and Y.
3. Vinegar solution is poured into beaker W and covered with a lid.
4. Another portion of the papaya is put into a plastic bag and vacuumed. The plastic is labelled as Z.
5. The papayas labeled V, W, X, Y and Z are placed in the following places.

2. To prevent the growth of mould, vinegar solution in beaker W can be replaced with concentrated sugar
solution. Is this opinion true?
