Principal’s MESSAGE
I am indeed pleased to note that
the CSE/IT association, “Samyuk-
tha” is publishing its newsletter
in this academic year as well. I
take this opportunity to congratu-
late the team behind this publica-
tion, for continuing their efforts in
show-casing the technical talents
of the students and the faculty. It
is praiseworthy to add that the as-
sociation is vibrant and visible. I
hope other associations in the in-
stitute will emulate this model. I
am sure, as in the previous years,
the newsletter will report the lat-
est news happening in the depart-
ment of Computer Science and

The NSS has begun its activities
for the year 2015.
The Ozone day was observed on
14-09-2015 at LBSITW. A flash
mob that depicts ozone layer
depletion was presented by stu-
dents.

IETE
IETE Students Forum (ISF) meet-
ing was conducted at LBSITW on
August 7, 2015, in the presence of
staff and students and presided over
by Dr. K C Raveendranathan, Prin-
cipal, LBSITW. The IETE students
chapter, LBSITW was formally in-
augurated by Shri K V Balasubra-
manian, Secretary, IETE, Trivan-
drum, followed by a technical talk
session by him. Shri S GirishKu-
mar, Vice-Chairman, IETE Trivan-
drum and Shri R Pradeep, Treasur-
er, IETE Trivandrum Centre were
the Guest of honour.

Farewell KTU (Kerala Technological University)

A farewell party was organized for
final year students by the third year
students on April 11, 2015. There
was an audio-video prepared for
each final year class and that was
projected as a slideshow. The party
was organized in the main semi-
nar hall. There were many cultural
events that followed.
Kerala Technological Univer-
sity has come into existence
on May 21, 2014. Their aim
is to give leadership to the
technology related policy
formulation and engineering
planning for the state.
LBSITW is affiliated to this
university. LBSITW has its
first batch of KTU enrolled
for the year 2015-16.
The new syllabus has intro-
duced a new curriculum for
the students of semester I and
II. The division of the first year
into two semesters is an exam-
ple. More subjects have been
included so as to improve the
academic standards.

Onam 2015
Onam was celebrated on 20-08-
2015. There were competitions on
Athapoo, Vadamvali, Uriyadi, etc.
The highlight of the event was the
presence of Sakhi TV at our cam-
pus and their program ‘Ponnona
Thumbikal’.

• Organized a four week Entrepreneurship De-
velopment Programme for Alumnis and other
women candidates from 06-07-2015 to 31-
07-2015, coordinated by Ms. Sumithra M D.
• Expert talk on Multimedia and ios Develop-
ment by Mr. Dileep Kalarikkal, Apple certi-
fied trainer on 04-08-2015 and 05-08-2015
for faculty and S7 CSE students, coordinated
by Ms. Lekshmy P L and Ms. Smitha Vas P.
IEEE Activities
The IEEE SB LBSITW organized
CAITES 2015 on 31-07-2015, a quiz com-
petition for students of LBSITW, which
had a participation of about 270 students.
The IEEE SB LBSITW had conducted
an Industrial Visit to ISRO, Trivandrum
on 26-08-2015, which had a participa-
tion of 47 students from four branches
of our college (AE, EC, CSE, IT) which
had only IEEE members and they were
accompanied by their Branch Counselor,
Mrs. Janisha A and Ms. Nishy Reshmi.
A one day camp was conducted only for
girls on 1-4-2015, which was powered
by Microsoft Women in Tech. The Hack
camp covered the basics of HTML5 and
CSS coding, handled by Mr. Robin, Ms.
Nidhiya V Raj and Mr. Arvind Sanjeev.
The event had a participation of 45 stu-
dents on a maximum of 50.
BREAKING NEWS
NBA Accreditation is a quality assurance
team for higher technical education. The
team is visiting our campus on October
9th, 10th and 11th.

tion Programme on Wireless Sensor Networks & Internet
of Things, organized by IIT Kharagpur from 11-05-
2015 to 15-05-2015, coordinated by Mr. Manoj Kumar G.
• An external training programme on Pedagogical Train-
ing organized by SPFU in association with Teaching
& Learning Centre, IIT Madras from 23-04-2015 to 25-
04-2015 and 27-04-2015 to 29-04-2015, coordinated
respectively by Mr. Sreejith S and Ms. Sreeletha S H.
• STTP on Advanced Algorithm Analysis and Design at
Government Engineering College, Thrissur from 21-
04-2015 to 25-04-2015, coordinated by Ms. Smitha E S.
• STC on Graphic Designing and Animation for Web orga-
nized by NITTTR at Chandigarh from 11-05-2015 to 15-05-
2015, coordinated by Mr. Vikas K Soman and Mr. Visakh V.
• An external training programme on Pedagogical Training
organized by SPFU in association with Teaching & Learn-
ing Centre, IIT Madras from 21-05-2015 to 23-05-2015,

• An expert talk on Theory of Computation by Ms. Ajitha,
Associate Professor in Maths, College of Engineer-
ing, Kottarakkara, coordinated by Ms.Jayalekshmi S.
• A workshop was organized on Design and Analysis of Al-
gorithms in association with Indian Association for Com-
puter Science Research and IIITM-K Technopark from 24-
04-2015 to 29-04-2015, coordinated by Ms. Jayalekshmi
S, Mr.Sulphikar A, Mr. Visakh V and Mr. Vikas K Soman.

 CSI
The CSI Student Branch was inaugurated in
LBSITW on 21-08-2015. The chief guest for
the ceremony was Mr. Satish Babu, Director of
ICFOSS, who gave the key note address fol-
lowed by a talk on Internet Of Things. The cer-
emony was attended by the principal of LBSITW,
K.C Raveendranathan, Vice Chairman of CSI ,
Trivandrum Chapter, who delivered the Special
Address, Secretary of CSI, Trivandrum chapter, successfully organised a one day workshop on
Mr. Vishnu Kumar, HODs of all the departments
of the college, faculty members along with the
CSI student members as well as the other stu-
dents. Membership cards were distributed to the
students.
The CSI has successfully conducted a Video Edit-
ing Competition.
College Union 2015-16 Inaugaration
The College Union for the year 2015-16 was in-
augurated on August 4th,2015. The chief guest
for the event was Mr. Vijayan IPS and playback
singer Harishankar. It was followed by various
cultural events performed by our students.
The College Union members were elected by
the students on the day of Election. The College
Union members for the year 2015-16 are:

EDC Bootcamp
The Government of Kerala has created the
“StartupBootcamp” Program in which, it is en-
visaged to create a startup ecosystem in each and
every college campus through active involve-
ment of students. Bootcamp is a student-focused
program that will be completely run by students.
On August 6th, 2015, the bootcamp of LBSITW
‘Entrepreneurship Development’. The session
was taken by Mr.DeepuSajeev, Nodal Officer of
Trinity Engineering College, Trivandrum.
