INTRODUCTION

We Researchers choose this topic to Analyse the Impact of Poor Internet connection to the
Academic Performance of Senior High Students at SEAITT 2020-21
Slow Internet connections or limited access from homes in rural areas can contribute to students falling
behind academically. The educational setbacks can have significant impacts on academic success, college
admissions and career opportunities.
Department of Education (DepEd) Secretary Leonor Briones said cyberspace may yet take the
place of the classroom to address the problem of social or physical distancing needed to be observed if the
traditional face-to-face mode of teaching and learning cannot yet be conducted.
Results showed that the most rural and socioeconomically disadvantaged students are least likely to have
broadband Internet access at home. Only 47% of students who live in rural areas have high-speed Internet
access at home compared to 77% of those in suburban areas. Of those who do not have home access, 36%
live in a home with no computer and 58% live on a farm or other rural setting.
Students with no high-speed Internet access at home are also less likely to plan to attend, college or
university. On the other hand, students with Internet access have substantially higher digital skills, which
are a strong predictor of performance on standardized tests.
The results show that students who rely on a cell phone only – or who have no home Internet access

BACKGROUND STUDY

During the first day of classes on Monday, (state the exact date) some teachers and students
encountered Internet connection problems for their online classes – one of the alternative learning
modalities under distance learning.
DepEd Undersecretary and spokesperson Annalyn Sevilla, in a CNN Philippines interview, noted that the
connectivity problem is an issue that is beyond DepEd’s control.

“The Internet problem is not just a problem in the Philippines but it’s also a problem globally,”
Sevilla said. While DepEd recognizes that having an Internet connection is “one big factor in education
but right now,” she noted that DepEd is adopting a blended learning approach this year.
Sevilla said that DepEd acknowledges that slow Internet connection is indeed a problem “but for
education, we need to continue and we need to do something that we can do, and that’s the modular
approach.”
Stated that the opening of the new school year amid the COVID-19 pandemic is a huge challenge
not only for DepEd but for all education stakeholders.
“The learning delivery modality is really a big shift from the face-to-face that we were used to,” Sevilla
said.
Unlike in private schools where classes might be strictly or fully online, Sevilla said that there are
alternative learning modalities in public schools. “We have prepared the modules so if there are Internet
problems, they can use these,” she added.

STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM

” Impacts of Poor Internet connection to the Academic
Performance of Senior High Students at
SEAITT 2020-21” aims to acquire the impact of poor internet connection to the academic
performance of senior high students in SEAITT

Specifically, it aims to answer the following questions:

1. Why this country is still branded with its slow internet

1.2. because the country severely lacks cell sites
1.3 because the government can't afford a expensive router
1.4 signal strength on your cable line, devices on your network saturating your bandwidth

- add more SOP atleast 5 sets of questions.
- use WH’s questions (What, Where, When, Who, & How)
SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY

Significance of the study this is the study that discuss the different benefits that will get by the
following

RESEARCHERS - we the researchers needs to know the impact of poor internet connection to the
academic performances of senior high-school students
PARENTS – they have to be aware to the technology and internet connection in their house/area that
used by their children
TEACHER – consideration for the late activities and project for their students due to lack of technology
and poor internet connection
STUDENTS – participation in the recitation even just by chatting in the groupchat of their subject
teacher

SCOPE AND DELIMITATIONS

The scope of this study focuses on the students who could only get Internet
access at home on their cell phone and struggled to utilize the resources available on the Internet,
whether due to slow connectivity or caps on data use from local service providers. Those who
have better broadband access at home also have higher digital skills overall Compared to
communities with fast Internet access, those with poor broadband connectivity will experience
fewer benefits from the digital transforma
DEFINITION OF TERMS

DISTANCE LEARNING - A learning mode is to use gadget todo there activities and noneed
to go to school anymore
MODE OF LEARNING - mode of learning sometimes depends
what the student wants choose gadgets or modules
CAUSE POOR INTERNET CONNECTION- weak of signal and if many people at your home is using
an internet
INTERNET PERFORMANCE- Poor internet connection
FACING SLOW INTERNET SPEED- fix Wi-Fi issues, try restarting your computer, phone, or other
devices.
