student’s mind back to productive
work.
● Make it clear that you are unable to

● Allow time out’s or breaks, then come

● Instead of scolding, coercing, or punishing,
teachers should...build strong supportive
relationships with them, provide
encouragement and stimulation, and show
consistent willingness to help.

them learn. All we can do is open
possibilities, provide information, and expose
them to the influence of good models (such
as ourselves); in doing so, we will influence

choices about what they do in school.
● Provide a warm, supportive classroom
environment. Use lead management rather
than boss management. Ask students only to
do useful work. Always ask students to do the
best work they can. Ask students to evaluate
the work they have done and improve it. Help
students recognize that they feel food when
doing quality work. Help students see that
quality work must never be destructive to
oneself others, or the environment.
