INTRODUCTION OBJECTIVES
You are required to carry out activities to determine
Understand and appreciate the importance of
the pH value of various substances in daily life such
the use of chemicals in daily life, especially
as soapy water, carbonated drinks, coffee water, teh
involving ionic compounds as well as covalent
tarik, lemon juice, and so on. You need a pH indicator
to identify whether the ingredients are acidic, alkaline
compounds. Most substances found in everyday
or neutral. In addition to the pH indicators available in life contain acids or alkalis. The determination of
the chemistry lab, you are required to prepare your the pH value can be determined by providing its
own pH indicators using natural ingredients. own pH indicator and can be made in the

*Pen
*Egg white
*Sugar syrup *Paper
Get those creative

juices flowing !
Let's begin.
Step 1

Prepare a material and apparatus

before start an experiments.
Step 2
Purple cabbage finely chopped

Step 3
Finely chopped purple cabbage is
put in a blender with a little water and
grind until it is crushed
Step 4
Pour the purple cabbage juice that has
been ground into a bowl

Step 5
Mix the bicarbonate of soda into the

purple cabbage juice and record

observations on the reaction.

Step 6
Repeat step 5 using
limewater,milk,sugar syrup and
vinegar.
SAFETY PRECAUTION

1.Use knife with caution

2.Close the grinder with the grinder cover to make sure the
substance in the grinder not flowed out

Question 1
Brainstorm Area Our Favorite Ideas

ACID:
Chemical substances ionise in water to produce hydrogen ions
ALKALI:
Chemical substances that ionise in water to produce hydroxide ions
STRONG ACID:
An acid that ionises completely in water to produce a high
concentration of hydrogen ions.
WEAK ACID:
An acid that ionises partially in water to produce low concentration
of hydrogen ions
Question 2

*Phenolphthalein
*Methyl orange Antaciid pils is alkaline. It acts
as neutralised for acid that
in the stomach.

QUESTION
Tea is oxidised with water and
form alkaline preoperties.It is
because every tea have a
different rate of oxidised
CONCLUSION

Through the results of experiments performed

on selected ingredients using purple cabbage
juice. We can see that most of the ingredients
that we normally make for daily use have
certain properties such as acid, alkali or
neutral.
