AMERICAN FASHION TRENDS THROUGH THE DECADES

1920s:
MEN:

 three-piece suits narrow-fitting trousers


 soft collar shirts
 jackets with one or two buttons
 pinstripes
 long overcoats
 pullover sweaters, fedora hats, and lace-up boots
 canes, gloves, and pocket watches.

WOMEN:
 Dresses below the knee
 Straight yet slightly flowy
 T-strap heels fur coats or fringe wraps, pearl necklaces, and short,
bobbed hair.
 Dresses also had some type of collar
 Small hats
 Bucket hats to berets
1930s:
MEN:

 Men moved away from “elite” looking suits.


 Men began to wear overall less formal clothes.

WOMEN:
 1930s fashion began to use more of the “feminine silhouette”.
 Dress length moved back down to the ankles.
 Dresses became tighter and more fitted towards each woman.
 Dresses was ”slender, elongated torso with widening shoulders.
 Typical evening dresses were low-back and made of satin.
