Task 1 Lesson 1 (20Points)

Discuss how you will respond to the cases presented. Discuss the situation or dilemma
and think of the best advice you can give and explain the reasons.
Situation 1: Meeting someone in person you met online.
A classmate met somebody online and was asked her phone number and address. She
confides in you and you notice that she seems to have been hooked in chatting with this
'friend.' You know that there is a possibility that she will be invited for a personal
meeting.
What advice would you give?
Nowadays it is very common to meet people online especially with the use of
social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and etc. If this happened to
one of my classmates, I would advise her to never give any of her personal information
to that person because he is a total stranger and who knows if that person is a
cybercriminal, he can use any personal information he will get to blackmail my
classmate or use it in his other wrong doings. I would also advise her to never meet a

stranger in person or if she decides to meet that stranger, he can ask one of her elder
family member or relatives to come with her to assure her safety.

Situation 2:
Your best friend and you do not seem to like a group of classmates. You were asked to
take pictures of them in a school activity and since you have the file, your best friend
chided you to distort their picture and post it on the internet.
What should you do?
These scenarios are very common nowadays especially to those students who
envy each other. If my friend asked me to do thing like this, I would definitely decline the
request to distort my classmates photos because I know that it is wrong and I can be
sue if I posted a photo of someone online without his/her permission. I will just tell my
classmate that doing what she requested would just lead to no good.

Situation 3:
In your cooking class, you are talking to a classmate about finding a perfect friend. So,
you asked him,
"If you could cook up the perfect friend, what special ingredients would you
include? What is your friend like? What qualities do you think are important for a
friendship to be healthy?"
If I would cook up a perfect friend, the special ingredients I would include are
love, trust, openness and respect. I am a picky person when it comes to choosing
friends, I only have few but I am sure that they all possess these qualities. I believe that
the qualities that I have mentioned are the main ingredients and secret in order for a
friendship to work, last and to be healthy.

Can you think of possibilities on how you can use your social networking site as an
educational tool?
Describe clearly how you can appropriately utilize it in your lesson.
The main social networking site that I often use is Facebook. I think that this
social networking site can be an effective educational tool because most students and
teachers use it. In Facebook, teachers can create a group page which is only exclusive
for his students and in this group she/he can upload and share learning materials and

educational videos about their lessons. She can also broadcast a live stream of lesson
discussion and monitor those students who are viewing the livestream. In facebook
group page, teachers can also share announcements and updates where students can
easily see and read them. And lastly, with the use of facebook, students can interact
with their teachers and ask their questions and queries where teachers can answer
them for the benefit of the whole class.

Lesson 2: Online Resources, Educational Sites and Portals

What will you do first when developing a lesson?
For me the first thing to do when developing a lesson is to know the objectives of
the lesson. I need to think and know first what knowledge and learnings I want the
students to acquire in the end of the lesson. I will also think and develop an approach
on how I can explain and deliver properly the lesson in a way that the students can
understand and remember every important detail of the lesson.

Task 1 Lesson 2 (20 Points)

Study the following infographics:
A. Write an essay on The Profile of a Modern Teacher How do you appraise your views
on the characteristics, behaviors, or practices as one who is preparing to become a
modern teacher?

The Profile of a Modern Teacher

The profile of a modern teacher today is very different from the past years.
Teachers today possess a number of wonderful characteristics and behaviors which
make them effective in teaching. Based on the infographic of the profile of a modern
teacher, teacher should see themselves as co-learners and not teachers and move
around their student’s world to create a connection and build a good relationship
between them and their students. They should also allow themselves to fail and make
mistakes because failures and mistakes can teach them a lesson and they can use
these lessons in the future for their betterment. A teacher should also become a model
of resiliency and perseverance to inspire and motivate their students to strive hard in
their studies to be successful. They must allow their students to collaborate, brainstorm
and teach each other so that they will have the chance to share their insight and ideas
and at the same time they are also learning from each other. They should always step
outside their comfort zone and feel comfortable to ask their colleagues for help and
some advice whenever their having a hard time. And lastly they should be flexible and

embrace changes in the curriculum and integration of technology in classroom. As a
future educator, knowing these attributes of a modern teacher can be beneficial for me.

engaged in learning and I can be an efficient and effective teachers for the students that
I will be teaching in the future.

Task 2 Lesson 2 (20 Points)

B. Change your words Change your Mindset.
How do you relate this practice of using the right words to change your mind set in
becoming a modern teacher who knows how to look for digital tools, materials,
educational resource portals and sites in the web?
Write your reflections on the space provided.
Answer:
As a future educator of 21 st century learners, one must possess a positive
attitude and thinking. You should never let negativity interfere with you because it can
prevent you from becoming an efficient and effective teacher. When I was in high
school, I only have limited knowledge on using a computer and I have no idea how to
browse the internet since I only have a mobile phone back then. I always doubt myself
and think that I will never learn how to use a computer ever. But because of my dream
to be an effective teacher in the future, I started to train myself in using different kind of
technologies and their features. I ask one of my classmates to teach me how to use a
computer and how to browse the internet. Then at the end, I was able to master it. I was
able to find a solution to eradicate my weakness because by maintaining positivity. As a
future educator of the 21 st century learners, I can use these digital literacy that I have
gained on looking for digital tools, materials, educational resource portals and sites in
the web that I can integrate inside the classroom and are necessary and can be useful
in our lessons. I can keep my students engage by making creative instructional
materials with the used of digital tools. I can also provide power point presentations to
keep the discussion lively and enhance students’ engagement in learning. When I
become an educator I will keep a positive mindset towards teaching to be an effective
teacher and also to influence and inspire my students.
