The Biovis MP2000 is a complete Image analysis
workstation consisting of a Inverted Microscope with an
attached high resolution digital camera, along with the
Biovis Materials Plus software.
The system is built with number of modules for analysis
in routine material science applications. Also substantial
utilities are furnished that are useful in each stage of the
analysis, starting from Image Acquisition, Image
Processing, Measurements, to Archiving, and Reporting.

Grain Size : Estimate grain size using Planimetric or Intercept methods, with Advanced grain boundary
identification algorithms. Measure according to ASTM E112 and E1382.
Phase/Volume fraction : Measure phase percentages or volume fractions from the image by Automatic or Manual
delineation of phases. Report as per ASTM E562 standard.
Nodularity : Identify graphite nodules and measure size, % Graphite and % nodularity. Classify nodules
on the basis of size (ASTM A247 or user defined).
Graphite Flake : Graphite flakes analysis, Obtain %graphite area, Measure and classify graphite flakes
according to length.
Porosity : Discriminate pores in the field of view to estimate amount of Porosity of material. Measures
sizes and porosity percentage. Also measures apparent porosity according to ASTM B276.
Coating Thickness : Measures cross sectional thickness of coatings or layers. Choice of different methods for
automatic or interactive measurements.
Decarburization depth : Obtain total or partial decarburization depths with interactive tracing or auto-detection
methods.
Banding : Measures the degree of banding and orientation according to ASTM E1268
Dendritic Arm Spacing : Perform statistical analysis of the spacing between the dendrite arm structures. An
interactive method of drawing test lines is utilized for proper selection of dendrite arms.
Microhardness : Measures Knoop and Vickers hardness values from an indentation image. Reports as per
ASTM E1384.
Inclusion rating : Detect and classify inclusions as per ASTM E45/ E1122 methods. Automated scanning with
optional motorized microscope stage.
