IELTS SPEAKING PART 2
DATE: 07/2019 RESOURCE: Exam topic (283 words)

WRITE DOWN YOUR TALK:

Well, I’m going to describe my dream home. To be honest, I’ve always wanted to
have a place of my own. If money wasn’t an issue, I’d like to buy a bigger land
somewhere on the outskirts of my city and have my house built from scratch.

So, let me tell you what kind of house it would be. First of all, I’d like to have a single
storey home with a porch and a double garage. I’d also love to have a back garden
with lots of flowers as I’m a nature lover. Another great addition to the backyard
would be an outdoor swimming pool where I could spend my summer days instead
of going to beach resorts and things like that.

In fact, I've always wanted to be able to decorate my home in my own taste. I’d love
to have generous bedrooms and living areas as well as a study where I could read
books and work all by myself. I’d definitely want most of the rooms to be south-
facing, so that they’re always brightly lit throughout the day. I’m also a big fan of
stylish and innovative home design, so I’d prefer well-designed and elegantly
furnished rooms. I imagine that the walls in each room would be painted in soft
colours to make them look light and airy.

My ideal house would definitely be one that’s energy-efficient, and it has to feel
warm in winter and cool in summer. As well as that, I’d prefer the noise levels to be
reduced as much as possible, so that I could enjoy a less stressful and a more
pleasant living environment.

I guess that’s all I can say on this topic.

NOTES:

from scratch – If you start something from scratch, you begin it without using
anything that existed or was prepared before.
a soft colour – pleasant and not very strong
