SPEAKER
• The SPEAKER initiates the
COMMUNICATION PROCESS.
• The SOURCE or ENCODER of the
MESSAGE.
• The SPEAKER always has a
PURPOSE.
• The SPEAKER may also be a
LISTENER.

• The most important element, the
reason why we communicate.
• It could be an idea, an emotion, a
concept, an experience, a piece of
information.
• It is carefully crafted to achieve
SPEAKER’S PURPOSE FOR
COMMUNICATING.

LISTENER
• The LISTENER receives the message,
that is why the other term for
LISTENER is the RECEIVER or
DESTINATION.
• Communication is an interactive
process and if the SPEAKER is one-
half of the communication, the
LISTENER is the other half.

• The means by which the MESSAGE is sent.
• The most obvious elements: THE FIVE
SENSES OR SENSORY RECEPTORS
• Eyes These receive the

• This happens after the stimuli is
transmitted to the brain and decoded.
The brain then creates a reaction to
what has been interpreted.
• The only way the SPEAKER knows that
the MESSAGE has been received.
• This is based on the INTERPRETATION
OF THE MESSAGE by the LISTENER.

•The PERCEPTION BY THE
SPEAKER about the RESPONSE
OF THE LISTENER.
•With FEEDBACK, the SPEAKER
knows that the MESSAGE is
interpreted in the way the
SPEAKER wants.
