Deuteronomy 18:20-22
20But a prophet who presumes to speak in my name
anything I have not commanded him to say, or a prophet
who speaks in the name of other gods, must be put to
death." 21You may say to yourselves, "How can we know
when a message has not been spoken by the Lord ?" 22If
what a prophet proclaims in the name of the Lord does
not take place or come true, that is a message the Lord
has not spoken. That prophet has spoken presumptuously.
Do not be afraid of him..
Malachi 3:1-3
1"See, I will send my messenger, who will prepare the way
before me. Then suddenly the Lord you are seeking will
come to his temple; the messenger of the covenant, whom
you desire, will come," says the Lord Almighty. 2 But who
can endure the day of his coming? Who can stand when he
appears? For he will be like a refiner's fire or a launderer's
soap. 3 He will sit as a refiner and purifier of silver; he will
purify the Levites and refine them like gold and silver. Then
the Lord will have men who will bring offerings in
righteousness,
Malachi
4:5
"See, I will send you the prophet Elijah
before that great and dreadful day of the
Lord comes.
Luke 1:11-17
11 Then an angel of the Lord appeared to him, standing at the right side of
the altar of incense. 12 When Zechariah saw him, he was startled and was
gripped with fear. 13 But the angel said to him: “Do not be afraid, Zechariah;
your prayer has been heard. Your wife Elizabeth will bear you a son, and
you are to call him John. 14 He will be a joy and delight to you, and many
will rejoice because of his birth, 15 for he will be great in the sight of the
Lord. He is never to take wine or other fermented drink, and he will be
filled with the Holy Spirit even before he is born. 16 He will bring back many
of the people of Israel to the Lord their God. 17 And he will go on before the
Lord, in the spirit and power of Elijah, to turn the hearts of the parents to
their children and the disobedient to the wisdom of the righteous—
to make ready a people prepared for the Lord.”
Luke 16:16

"The Law and the Prophets were proclaimed until John.

Since that time, the good news of the kingdom of God is
being preached, and everyone is forcing his way into it.
Matthew 11:11

I tell you the truth: Among those born of women there

has not risen anyone greater than John the Baptist; yet he
who is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he.
Matthew 11:12-15 (NKJV)

12 And from the days of John the Baptist until now the
kingdom of heaven suffers violence, and the violent take it
by force. 13 For all the prophets and the law prophesied
until John. 14 And if you are willing to receive it, he
is Elijah who is to come. 15 He who has ears to hear, let
him hear!
Matthew 23:2
"The teachers of the law and the Pharisees sit
in Moses' seat.
Luke 11:34-36
34Your eye is the lamp of your body. When your eyes are
good, your whole body also is full of light. But when they
are bad, your body also is full of darkness. 35See to it,
then, that the light within you is not darkness.
36Therefore, if your whole body is full of light, and no
part of it dark, it will be completely lighted, as when the
light of a lamp shines on you."
Luke 17:20-21
20 Once, having been asked by the Pharisees when the
kingdom of God would come, Jesus replied, "The kingdom
of God does not come with your careful observation, 21
nor will people say, 'Here it is,' or 'There it is,' because the
kingdom of God is within you."
Matthew 14:8-11
8 Prompted by her mother, she said, "Give me here on a
platter the head of John the Baptist." 9The king was
distressed, but because of his oaths and his dinner guests,
he ordered that her request be granted 10and had John
beheaded in the prison. 11His head was brought in on a
platter and given to the girl, who carried it to her mother.
Heb. 9:8-9
8 The
Holy Spirit was showing by this that the way into the
Most Holy Place had not yet been disclosed as long as the
first tabernacle was still functioning.
Mt 9:14-15
14 Then John’s disciples came and asked him, “How is it
that we and the Pharisees fast often, but your disciples do
not fast?”
15 Jesus answered, “How can the guests of the

bridegroom mourn while he is with them? The time will

come when the bridegroom will be taken from them;
then they will fast.
Mt11:1-5
11 After Jesus had finished instructing his twelve disciples, he
went on from there to teach and preach in the towns of
Galilee.[a]
2 When John, who was in prison, heard about the deeds of the

Messiah, he sent his disciples 3 to ask him, “Are you the one who
is to come, or should we expect someone else?”
4 Jesus replied, “Go back and report to John what you hear and

see: 5 The blind receive sight, the lame walk, those who have
leprosy[b] are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, and
the good news is proclaimed to the poor.
Mt 11:6-7
6 Blessed is anyone who does not stumble on account of
me.”
7 As John’s disciples were leaving, Jesus began to speak to

the crowd about John: “What did you go out into the
wilderness to see? A reed swayed by the wind?
Mt 11:10
10 This is the one about whom it is written:
“‘I will send my messenger ahead of you,
who will prepare your way before you.’[a]
Mt 11:11
11 TrulyI tell you, among those born of
women there has not risen anyone greater
than John the Baptist; yet whoever is least
in the kingdom of heaven is greater than
he.
Mt 3:7-10
7 But when he saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees

coming to where he was baptizing, he said to them: “You

brood of vipers! Who warned you to flee from the coming
wrath? 8 Produce fruit in keeping with repentance. 9 And
do not think you can say to yourselves, ‘We have
Abraham as our father.’ I tell you that out of these stones
God can raise up children for Abraham. 10 The ax is
already at the root of the trees, and every tree that does
not produce good fruit will be cut down and thrown into
the fire.
