2. Plato referred to the cave dwellers as captives because they were enslaved by what they
referred to as reality, a conviction that the beautiful world exists within their cave. They only
have the sound of echoes and frightening shadows from the outer world to cling to. However,
once one of the inmates was released and seen what it looked like, he was sure it was the real
world. He has a feeling he won't be able to prove it unless he decides to do so.
3. Plato's passage helps me in gaining knowledge and confronting the reality that lies underneath
the gloom and blindness.

- For me, truth is what is real, that is, there are things that may be known with certainty
independent of one's perspective, identity, or experience. Nowadays, finding the truth is
quite difficult. People lie to one other and to themselves all of the time. They claim that
knowing the truth will set you free, but according to Friedrich Nietzsche, a 19th century
philosopher, "truth" does not actually exist - it's just a method for organizations who know
the "truth" to gain control over other groups. "There is no truth," on the other hand, is an
intrinsically problematic statement since it makes a claim of truth. You're implying that the
truth is the absence of truth. However, by claiming it, you have now repudiated your claim!
Perhaps the above is an oversimplification, but the idea should be clear: everyone believes
in truth and lives their lives according to the truth claims they have accepted. The question
is not whether we should believe in truth; we all do.

-I evaluated them by thoroughly reading and analyzing every detail of the article on the
number of COVID-19 infected cases. There have been millions of people diagnosed and
over one million people who have died as a result of this disease.

-According to the article I read, "more than thirty million people have been diagnosed with
COVID-19, including more than one million deaths," according to statistics gathered by
Johns Hopkins University's coronavirus surveillance program. They were able to keep track
of the sick and died thanks to the work of their program and the individuals that undertake
their research. (COVID-19 Map - Johns Hopkins Coronavirus Resource Center (jhu.edu))
