SPRING 2011
DISC GUIDELINES FOR INTERNSHIP ACADEMIC CREDIT
In order to receive academic credit, students must first submit an internship academic credit request to
be processed by the Rockwell Career Center and approved by the DISC Internship Faculty Advisors.
Please read this document carefully as it provides general guidelines for submitting an internship
academic credit request and functions as the DISC syllabus.
Please note: Students must attend the mandatory Internship Academic Credit Request Orientation
before submitting any forms. We cannot process your request until all required documents have been
received and properly filled out. All documents must be original; no copies will be processed. Any
documents filled out incorrectly will not be processed and the student is responsible for
correcting/resubmitting a new document. Thereafter, allow at least two to three weeks for processing.
Enrollment in the internship course will be conducted by the Director of Registration after approval from
faculty and the Dean’s office.
Holds: Should you have a hold on your PeopleSoft account, you will not be enrolled in the internship
course; the hold must be removed before you may be enrolled.
Re-Enrollment: If you are dropped from the course for any reason, you must send an e-mail to Estela
Cisneros, Internship Assistant, requesting to be re-enrolled. Students will not be re-enrolled
automatically. Also, if you are dropped a second time you cannot be re-enrolled and will be ineligible
for internship academic credit for the spring 2011 semester.
Daily Journal
Students are responsible for providing the Internship Faculty Advisor with a daily journal that records
what you have worked on during the internship assignment with (a) what, if anything, new has been
learned during the day and (b) what obstacles were faced and/or accomplished. Daily journal entries
must be e-mailed to the Internship Faculty Advisor by Monday at 5:00PM of the following week.
Internship Presentation
During the final week of the internship assignment, students are required to give an internship
presentation to both the internship supervisor and the Internship Faculty Advisor summarizing the
major accomplishments and skills learned during the internship. Other personnel with whom you have
worked during your internship assignment may be invited to attend the presentation. Contact your
Internship Faculty Advisor to make arrangements by Wednesday, May 4, 2011.
