ABSTRACT
#4 Patient management system for a hospital.
Recent research states that using new and emerging
technologies in the areas of telecommunications are widely used in
healthcare sector. The database record contains all the details of the
patients ever treated. Since the patient enters the hospital, the
workflow starts as the reception as the user creates new record with
the severity of the cause, personal details and sends the record to the
assigned department and the department investigates the patient
details and stores it in the database.

Functionalities of the system:


The patients can register themselves with the hospital through online
application. The patient can fix an appointment with the required
doctor. After the treatment of the patient has begun/ended, the nurse
starts to update the record by entering the cause being treated,
physician’s consultation, treatment provided, and the medication
required by the patient. The total number of in-patients, out-patients
and deaths are also added in the database for further references. The
details of the doctors are also provided in the database with their
record of patient consultation.
The is also an online consultation forum to get physician’s
consultation, with providing the details of the patient and the cause.
After the treatment is completed, the doctor discharges the patient.
Before discharging from the hospital, the patient again must complete
certain formalities of the hospital like balance charges. The details of
the doctors are also provided in the database with their record of
patient consultation.
Admin can be able to view the patients present at the hospital, their
medical status, bills, etc. Admin can also be able to check the number
of patients being treated for a particular disease, doctor’s details that
are attending these patients.
Customers can also update their status, in the case of online
consultation. The details of the doctors are also provided in the
database with their record of patient consultation.

Modules in the system:


This system includes the following modules
• Interface creation for master table management.
• Issuing of admission card and admitting the patients to hospital.
• Room booking and allotment.
• Maintaining treatment details.
• Preparing discharge summary.
• Report generation.

Benefits:
This system supports the hospital by managing the total data of
patients, doctors, medicine, etc. The system can also generate reports
based on the requirement.
