HUMAN MAPPING DECISIONS AND THEIR IMPORTANCE

The process of matching the appropriate individual to the right machine is a complex
one. Each worker possesses a unique collection of abilities, resulting in varying levels of
competency in various activities. Meeting objectives, expectations, and timelines is
critical during peak season, when every unit counts. Another issue to consider is the
decision-making process for laying off employees. This is the time for the firm to
evaluate the productivity and skills that each employee brings to the table.

The overall effort that goes into aligning a worker with the needs of the firm makes it
even more critical for management to make the correct decision. In such cases, LPP
modelling can be useful in reducing the overall time required for each process to
complete, therefore improving productivity and, as a result, lowering costs. This aids in
developing operational acumen and effectively managing the company's working cash.

PROBLEM STATEMENT AND OBJECTIVE:

We have taken a car manufacturing company, specializing in manufacturing cars. The
task at hand is to make decisions to assign the right resources to tasks and stations
with the correct level of training, to reduce the overall cycle time, thereby optimizing the
resources.

Our objective is to assign the right resources at each station, to minimize the cycle time
and thereby the overall labour cost, and also maintain the quality of throughput by
ensuring the right resources( the labour) get allotted to each station. The underlying
assumption is that the only one operator can be assigned to each task, and all tasks
can run parallely. Once a task is started, it must be completed before moving on to the
next one. All the operators are available for all working hours and have the required
competencies to skills to complete the tasks.

Linear Programming Problems:

The problem of linear programming is one of finding the optimal value (maximum or
minimum value) of a linear function (called an objective function) of several variables
(say x and y), subject to the conditions in which the variables are nonnegative and
satisfy a collection of linear inequalities (called linear constraints). The term linear
implies that all the mathematical relations used in the problem are linear relations while
the term programming refers to the method of determining a particular program or plan
of action.
Linear objective function is Z = ax + by, where a and b are constraints, which is to be
either maximized or minimized. Variables x and y are the decision variables.
Excel Solver: Solver is a program in MS Excel which helps you either maximize or
minimize the values of the Decision cell or the Target cell — subject to constraints, or
limits, on the values of other formula cells on a worksheet. Solver adjusts the values in
the decision variable cells to satisfy the limits on constraint cells and produce the result
you want for the objective cell.

Work - Folding and Sampling

Table 1: Time taken by workers for each task at each assembly line point. Through the
candidate’s internship and primary research “the average time” mentioned below in the table
was found out.

The final cost with required decisions has been calculated. The final reports obtained are
as follows:

CONCLUSION
Based on the data acquired from the calculations and findings, ABC would complete
their product cycle in 420 minute with a labour cost of ₹7. We gathered the data, set the
constraints and the essential goal tasks, and then used Excel to find the best attributes.
While determining the same, we discovered how to build a model that could address the
difficulties of finding the best characteristics for managers and provide quick results
based on information as well as the most extreme cost-saving advantages. This
exercise effectively demonstrated the practical applications of what we learned in our
lectures and assisted us in achieving a significantly more practical approach to MBA.
