Re: Minneapolis Municipal Poll Findings

Mayor Jacob Frey leads Sheila Nezhad by 19% in a first-choice vote and by 20% in the final
round of a ranked choice vote simulation. More than 50% of DFL voters rate him favorably,
putting him in strong position for re-election

• Frey holds a substantial lead. Frey leads throughout the ranked choice vote
simulation, starting with 44% of the vote followed by Nezhad with 25%, Knuth with 10%,
and 13% of voters still undecided.

Frey’s lead is not impacted by the RCV process: when people’s votes are allocated in an
RCV simulation, Frey leads Nezhad 47% to 27%. Knuth voters who do pick a second
choice choose equally between Frey and Nezhad, and many voters don’t pick a second
(or third) choice similar to what happened in the 2017 election.

RANKED CHOICE VOTING SIMULATION

First round Second-to-last round Final Round
Jacob Frey 44% 45% 47%
Sheila Nezhad 25% 26% 27%
Kate Knuth 10% 12% --
AJ Awed 3% -- --
(All others) 4% -- --
(Exhausted -- 4% 12%

Undecided 13% 13% 13%

• Frey’s base is Black voters and DFLers. Frey is the first choice of 58% of Black voters
and 49% of DFLers.

Findings are based on the results of a combined telephone and text-to-web survey conducted by ALG Research
from October 16-19, 2021 in Minneapolis among N=600 likely voters. The results are subject to a margin of error
of +4.0%. 77% of interviews were conducted via cell phone or text-to-web.
