Task 1 (September 27 to October 1)

A. Selected Theory:
Constructivism Theory
B. What the theory is all about:
Cognitivism is primarily concerned with the characteristics of one's thinking,
memory, self-reflection, and motivation to learn. The cognitive approach focuses on the
learner's mental activities that influence responses and recognizes processes such as
mental planning, goal setting, and organizational strategies. It focuses on making
knowledge meaningful and on assisting learners in becoming more organized and able
to relate new information to previously stored knowledge. Furthermore, cognitivist
approaches emphasize the importance of thought processes in learning, such as
memory, thinking, reflection, abstraction, and metacognition, all of which are required
in the learning process.

C. What are some inclusive education practices relevant to the concept of the chosen
theory of education?
Cognitivist education relies on a student's current mental structures or schema.
In reality, cognitivism-based inclusive education methods entail the use of cognitivism in
inclusive education settings, as evidenced by the importance of mental information
processing and interactions in directing student learning. Students are encouraged to
communicate and link their past knowledge, learning experiences, and talents in order
to better understand new material. To meet the cognitive requirements of children with
special educational needs, instructional methods such as framing, outlining, mnemonics,
idea mapping, and advance organizers should be utilized explicitly. Different
instructional techniques centered on learning activities, such as note-taking,
highlighting, summarizing, writing to learn, outlining, and mapping, are utilized to
execute cognitivism-based inclusive education practices. The implementation of these
teaching techniques in general education classes has yielded good outcomes for kids
with special needs. Other cognitivism-based methods utilized in inclusive education
classrooms for kids with special needs include different evidence-based metacognitive
tactics such as study skills, concept mapping, and reciprocal teaching. It also includes
particular best practice treatments, such as metacognitive techniques, for children with
exceptional needs in cognitivism-based inclusive education environments. Students
learn metacognitive methods to help them understand how they think. Students may
prepare, organize, and share knowledge and learning by using targeted study
techniques, concept mapping, and reciprocal teaching. A flow chart, which is used to
organize information in a cognitivism-based classroom, is another example of a
metacognitive technique. As a result, cognitivism may be linked to important
components of inclusive education best practices by assisting students in assimilation
and accommodation of knowledge.
