If you’re building a new


TTRPG and need a combat
system, take this one!*

CHARACTER CREATION
Players will need a “full” standard polyhedral dice set:
d4, d6, d8, d10, d12, and d20

Assign a d6, d8, d10, or d12 one at a time to the following stats
Damage - How hard your character hits
Defense - Damage mitigation/armor
Healing - Replenish your HP pool
Luck (or Bonus) - Add to any roll. Consumeable.*
*we recommend 3x encounter

COMBAT
All characters (PC, NPC, Monster) have base HP of 50
Turn order is determined by rolling Luck.
Higher number on the die goes first, proceeding in order.
In a tie, the larger die size gets priority.
Roll d20 to hit
Contested d20 to determine attack success or failure
In a tie, the defender wins.
Calculate Damage
d4 + Attackers Damage Die - Defenders Defence Die
Applying Luck
Add to ANY roll, including Turn Order.
GMs should award Luck die frequently to keep pacing up
Healing
Instead of attacking, you can roll Heal to add back to HP
