Mona Katz – Nurse Practitioner Primary Care Clinic

Mona Katz is a Nurse Practitioner (NP) in Mt. Morris Pennsylvania. She owns her own primary

care center where she helps over 5,000, poverty level patients. She understands that residents in that

area have difficulty paying or simply do not have money to seek care. That did not discourage Mona,

since her focus was not the money. She truly cares for the well-being of all her patients. Through the

video, one can tell that she treated her patients with love and had a unique relationship with them. She

personally got involved in trying to get insurance for her patients so that they did not wait to receive

especially when one interacts with the same patient many times.

Ardis Bush – Nurse Manager

Ardis Bush has been working at the same hospital for 25 years. She started as a staff nurse and

worked her way up the clinical ladder to a nurse manager. Ardis does not only worry about the nursing

diagnosis but helps the patient as a whole. She goes the extra mile to make sure her patients are getting

better. Ardis Bush understands that reestablishing one’s health isn’t just helping the affected area but

making sure the patient as a whole is healthy. All the body systems go hand in hand and if one system is

Primary care clinics see many patients a day. Clinics usually overbook the schedule for nurses

and doctors. As an NP I would make it a goal to provide the best care and not allow the patient to leave

with worries or un-answered questioned. I’ve been to many appointments with my primary doctor at the

clinic. The nurses rush through my assessment and do not fully answer my concerns. If I worked in

Primary Care Clinic, I would not want patients to leave feeling how I felt. Each patient should be given

enough time for an assessment to fully understand and identify the problem.

Working in the oncology unit has to be one of the toughest jobs. I would follow Bob’s footsteps

and create a positive environment for all my patients. Create a connection so they can open up to me so

I can assure I’m providing all the help I can. Being in a hospital is not the best feeling, if I’m able to

Being a nurse manager entails more responsibility than a staff nurse. One becomes a leader in

charge of managing a whole floor or unit. It would be a priority to make sure all the patients are well

taken care of. Most importantly I would encourage all the nurses on the floor so they perform to their

best capacity. A nurse manager has many roles and long shifts but they are essentially the backbone of

the floor or unit they work in. They keep everything and everyone functioning and happy.
