PERFORMANCE TASK
Performance Standard: The student is able to formulate challenging situations involving
sets and real numbers and solve these in a variety of strategies.
Learning Competency: The learner performs operations on rational numbers.
Directions. Read the given situation and do what is asked. A rubric in evaluating your output
is also provided. Write your answer on a separate sheet of paper.
Suppose you have been given a checkbook. Your checkbook has a ledger for you to
record your transactions. There are two types of transactions that may take place: a) deposits
(money placed in the account) and; b) debits/payments (money out from the account). The
difference between debits/payments and deposits gives the value of the account. If there are
more deposits than debits, the account has a positive value. If there are more debits than
credits, the account is in debt, shows a negative cash value. Use the ledger to record the
information. You are also required to answer the question that follows. The output will be
evaluated based on the accuracy of answer, algebraic solution, and answers to the given
question.
