The Clark County Office of the Coroner/Medical Examiner and then-Coroner John

Fudenberg responded to the 1 October tragedy with professionalism, selflessness and

dedication to the families of those who never came home that night.
During the following years, we became increasingly aware of issues within that office
that needed to be addressed, including some serious personnel matters that were
investigated by the County. Under Assistant County Manager Jeff Wells’ leadership, we
have made substantial and meaningful changes to operations and staffing, and continue
working to improve the performance of the office.
The Clark County Office of the Coroner/Medical Examiner is in a very different place
today than it was a few years ago.
